What Can I use My Knife on?

Dude, just use your knife on rogue ninjas, like everybody else does.:D Only ROGUE ninjas though, the State Ninjas are, of course, too tough to kill.

I use it on boxes, envelopes, and food. I keep a couple of cheese bricks or wedges in the break room fridge along with a bag of franks in the freezer. If I don't have time to eat out, I'd just whip out the knife and improvise lunch.

I work in an office/retail setting and, even though I have ready access to X-acto knives, scissors, and box cutters, I still find uses for my EDC on pretty much a daily basis. Now, go find something to cut (whether it needs it or not...;)) and CUT IT!!!:D

Why the insult? What'd I do to you?

You were insulting to another member.

The the OP:

Take all your unused knives and put them in a knife block. Don't have a knife block? Buy one at Walmart for $5-10. Now use them for food preparation. I have just started to learn how to cook recently, and getting an excuse to use my Millie when doing food prep. gives me an extra incentive to cook instead of microwaving some crappy tv dinner.

Start cooking and use your knives that way, or get some nice outdoor excercise. Anyway, both of them will make your knives shine in their duties and also benefit youself in many ways. Outdoors rock as does knowing how to cook. I still lack in the cooking apartment alot though.

Got a couple of nice knives now. But it's bugging me I don't have the use for them. It's boring just to collect and not use- don't want to go there. I have a 8-5 white collar job. I want to use my knife but on what?

Where to start......taking out the garbage, opening cartons, ties, pruning and yard work, kitchen etc.....basically, everyday living. Sharpening and handling could even be considered a use. Then there's recreation and sporting, too much fun to get into here. :D

when you carry one, the moment you or someone needs it will arrive, definitively
I don't use so often too but the occasion is always waiting to show up

My benchmade tore up an entire room of carpet...LARGE room. Did the job pretty well considering the carpet was glued on pretty damn good. Finished the room inside of 2 hours with nothing but a Leatherman wave and a Benchmade 615. A leatherman wave is worth its weight in gold. Those things are so useful. I think all my knives on both are dull, but meh trip to the BM spa and its good as new.

Good to mention I do have a maintenance job so my uses for a knife are endless.

Where to start: You should probably tell us the knives that you think are being neglected through disuse so we can suggest appropriate uses for your knives.

For instance: SAK pioneer pruner - take it to work and open envelopes, open office supplies that come in clam shell plastic stuff, cut the box tie stuff on the paper supplies for whoever gets to distribute the paper to all the copiers/printers/faxes/etc, free lunch and snacks from those pesky bags that never just open.

Khuk - go find someone with a back yard to clear and volunteer your assistance.

What knives do you have?

I spent five years working in an office (had to wear a tie every day! :barf: ). I found a lot of uses for the various little knives I'd carry. You might check out a Victorinox Rambler, or a Case peanut.

Try Whittling! :) Grab a brew - Get a stick - make some wood chips. ;)
Fun and relaxing - and you get to use your knives - priceless :D

a fun thing for myself is an exercise i call reduction. nearly all of receive a newspaper & pamplets. small product, clothing, & tool sale mini-mags also hit our doors & mailboxes daily.i like the sensual feel of slicing these publications to slivers before placing them in the recycle--trash receptacles.actually for myself it's an exercise in cutting that i enjoy because of the cutting fun & the act of negating the obtrusive hard sell literature invading my home privacy.

I try to use my EDCs in the kitchen periodically. Its a good way to see what your knide does well and not so well. This is useful for me because at my inlaws I usually end up doing a fair amount of food prep. My mother in law's cutlery is pretty dismal. I will not get her any quality knives because she will not take care of them. Anyways, my EDC gets used there and I try to remember to grab one of my kitchen knives before we head up there.

We were at a beach house rental years ago. The only decent sharp knife was my Al Mar Hawk Ultralite. I'm glad I had it with me.

Agree with that. All of my knives get kitchen duty. And yes, it's a great way to really get a good feel for how good they are (I'm always pleasanty surprised).
