What can you tell me about the SOG Northwest Ranger S24

Hey Bill,
I own a Sog Seal Pup and Sog Seal Revolver...I love both of those knives and take them with me every camping trip I go on....I do not own a northwest ranger but I was playing with one the other day at a knife store....It seemed like a nice knife for the outdoors...nice long blade (not too long and the serrations didnt take up a lot of the blade like most knives)...it felt very comfortable in the hand ...and it would be easy to clean...you should post a thread in the sog forum on here.
What are you planning on using the knife for?

Yeah, that does help. I'm a geologist and I live in Georgia, so I spend a lot of time in the woods. I need a good general-purpose knife. I always carried a pilot's survival knife that I bought in 1975, but it along with my whole field kit was stolen right out of my tent. Serves me right for being too lax about trail security. Anyway, I'm looking for something to ride on my hip in the field and cut what needs to be cut.

Oh thats cool. I am finishing up my minor in physical geography at school here in colorado...The nw ranger would be good but you might also want to look at the sog revolver series of knives...I take mine with me every camping trip. I use the saw all the time - it is very sharp and cuts wood fast...it makes an excelent field/outdoors knife ...do you know if they carry one at your local knife shop?

I had one for a while, its a decent enough knife for the money. Some would prefer a handle material other than kraton but it has it advantages.
Its a perfectly usable knife for under $100. However, bear in mind you get what you pay for.
If you have a little more to spend, I would also consider the Bark River Bravo 1 or a Scrapyard Dumpster Mutt.
The Fallkniven knives are also highly regarded.
