What can you tell me about this one?

Looks like some sort of SH-E...

Looks aftermarket, but i'm not the expert...

the finish in particular looks to be done aftermarket -- i don't recall ever seeing the infi dimples left unfinished on a busse double cut blade... But the swedge is what i'd be most interested in -- as far as whether it is by busse or aftermarket. It's a lot longer than what i've seen on the ZTSHs.

either way it is a cool blade!

The grind could be factory.....depending on the Blood Alcohol Content, but it just looks a little "off". doesn't flow with the spine, then the color looks krylon...after someone ground it. But I know, I know NOTHING!!!

Except ... this one was heavily modded, and probably not by the factory. And that's a significant piece of information!

Don't know if the gray coat is krylon or not, but it can't be very thick.

I think the swedge looks a lot better than on the ZT but what caught me was the dimples. I've only ever seen them in stripped blades. Could still be stripped by Busse though.. i don't know.

So what would you say about its value?

can't say if it was modded aftermarket or not. However, the dimples with double cut is not unusual. Back then it wasn't DC it was Bead Blast and just like there was Satins with Dimples there was DC's with dimples.

You can probably tell if there was coating under the micarta or if it was removed. It looks like it might have been either a modded desert LE or it is a variant.

not anything that would lead to an answer- but I notice that the (buy brown?) kydex doesn't appear to have the swedge molded into the tip... that could just mean that the sheath was purchased having been made for a different knife though.

i didn't know that -- good info to have

Sweet blade,
From the looks of it I don't think it came from Busse in that modified form.
Every double_cut blade I have seen from Busse had no dimples.

Jerry made at least two with a top grind like that, and at least one long Triple grind that went that far up the spine that might look like that after aftermarket sandblasting.

When I was a dealer, I would get a nimber of Buy Brown sheaths, then fit them to what ever Busse knives that would fit into them, I might order 10 sheaths in different colors for the E-Model Steel Heart and it might take 25 knives to get 10 that would fit well, lots of differences between Busse knives at that time.

A Knife like this was easier to get to fit because the grind made the knife a Bit smaller than standard, often needing just a little heat to make a dimple near the tip to securely hold the knife.

Has the pic been shopped?

I was wondering that as well because of how crisp the transition lines are between the three items present in it - but all of the shadows are cast in the same direction.

swedges like that one are not unheard of (specifically long running swedges that are not hollow ground), they just aren't usually seen on the ergo line.

example:

it really seems like the ergo line was more likely to have the deep dish nuclear style spine edge, or a double/triple grind.
