What can you tell me about this one?

can't say if it was modded aftermarket or not. However, the dimples with double cut is not unusual. Back then it wasn't DC it was Bead Blast and just like there was Satins with Dimples there was DC's with dimples.

You can probably tell if there was coating under the micarta or if it was removed. It looks like it might have been either a modded desert LE or it is a variant.

Jerry made at least two with a top grind like that, and at least one long Triple grind that went that far up the spine that might look like that after aftermarket sandblasting.

When I was a dealer, I would get a nimber of Buy Brown sheaths, then fit them to what ever Busse knives that would fit into them, I might order 10 sheaths in different colors for the E-Model Steel Heart and it might take 25 knives to get 10 that would fit well, lots of differences between Busse knives at that time.

A Knife like this was easier to get to fit because the grind made the knife a Bit smaller than standard, often needing just a little heat to make a dimple near the tip to securely hold the knife.

That sounds reassuring, because the current owner is sure that it has not been modded and i trust him. I don't like the idea of him having been lied to when he got this knife.

Yes, the picture has been chopped. Here's the original one:

As of tomorrow this knife will be mine. I have no need for one more mid sized knife but i can't resist the DC/tan and swedge :o

if you can verify that that is indeed a variant - thats a unique variant.

most of the variants with swedges that I've seen on ergos are one of these types:

- short curved swedges, like the zero tollerence, or a swedge that does not extend much farther then the initial drop point curve
- straight swedges that don't curve with he drop point, generally these are short and don't go past the drop point curve
- double or triple grinds, these are straight grinds that are combined to over come the curve of the drop point
- nuclear grinds, which are deep dish hollow grind that follow the top of the spine like yours does above.

I think that (if this is an actual real deal variant) this is the first long curve drop piont single grind swedge I've seen on a busse variant... (at least, on the larger knives)
