Just thought I would ask what Cold Steel Knife does Lynn Thompson carry the most these days? Kevin 😊👍

He often mentions he carries the XL Vaquero as a favorite folding defensive knife, IIRC.
In shows, garage sales and events he is often seen with the Vaquero, and on occasion carrying the Espada.

That's from pics of those last 4-5 years, though, he might have carried others before.

With Cold Steel not offering a single new XL folder design for 2016 and with all the hype for the Broken Skull , probably the weeniest folder CS has ever offered , I'm beginning to suspect that Thompson carries a pink handled Broken Skull as his EDC. Hey Lynn ; better unarmed than carrying a Broken Skull.

Trolling a manufacturer's forum will end badly.

I have seen that. And after I got one I understood. I was in the rain for 1.5 hours yesterday and had to get out as I was feeling hypothermic. I forgot about the Vaq. clipped to my right front pocket, and it remained on the soaked but drying canvas work pants all night. I pulled it off about two hours ago and all it had was a couple of tiny rust spots near the pivot on the blade. I scraped the spots off for the most part and re oiled. She's good to go again. It may have had some residual oil from previous maintenance, but I am kind of lazy that way. I was happy not to find a hideous rust mess. The old AUS8 seems pretty forgiving.

As a Cold Steel fan for at least 30 years and with over 75 Cold Steel products purchased I certainly don't consider myself a CS troll. My post was ment to convey some disagreement with the direction CS seems to be going in folding knife offerings in, what I thought was, a humorous way. However if my post was deemed to be offensive then I apologize. I definitely do not want to be persona non grata on this sub-forum.

Lynn usually carries several XL Vaquero Voyagers or 6" Ti-Lites. He also carries an orange Broken Skull a lot as his work knife.
If he's wearing a suit he usually carries an XL Espada and / or a Laredo Bowie

Great, I have a Blue Broken Skull coming so I am looking forward to it. Thanks for the answer 👍 Kevin

How about Andrew Demko does he carry one of his customs or does he sometimes carry a Cold Steel folder? I have one of Andrews customs and have talked with him on the phone. He is a great guy who makes an AWESOME custom!! Thanks Again!! Kevin

Also how many Broken Skulls have you done in each color since it is a limited run. Thanks Again. Kevin 👍

Andrew usually carries whatever prototype he's working on at the time. Often a custom knife.
For a while he used to also carry a Mini Tac fixed blade in his pocket. Not sure if he still does

Thanks for your reply. I would like to talk to Lynn on the phone sometime. I have talked with Andrew and he is a great guy! Thank You! Kevin

I've definitely seen Lynn carrying a Laredo Bowie many times.

It is mentioned in the official videos and also in some magazine article that Lynn Thompson carries a Laredo Bowie. It's good to know that Lynn Thompson believes in the Laredo Bowie enough to carry it frequently. For anyone who thinks that its tang ain't good enough, that's a heck of an endorsement, the company owner/president carrying his own product. Endorsements don't get better than that.

I always find it interesting to see what the members of the Cold Steel crew have in their pockets as they conduct the tests in the Proof videos. I've noticed over the years that they generally possess older models rather than the latest-and-greatest models that they're testing. I've also seen that they tend not to carry the high-end or exotic items (such as, say, the Custom Series or the Triple Actions). I'm sure that varies among individuals and changes over time, however.

Mr. Turko, I understood the light admonishment/humor of your post. I agree insofar as I'd like to see some new XL models for 2017. That said, I would counter your premise with two points:

1) The Broken Skull may be a lightweight, but it's still a prize fighter in my book. It's got a four-inch blade that was sharper out of the box than any knife I've handled in years. It's got a Tri-Ad to ensure that it stays open. And it's unobtrusive enough (as well as "non-tactical" in appearance) to earn pocket time in just about any circumstance, ensuring that it will probably be with you in those instances when you've left the Espada at home.

2) Lynn Thompson with nothing but a pink-handled Broken Skull is more formidable than 99% of the populace with a katana!

I agree. Here's the one he carries, shown with its River City Sheaths Southern Comfort.

I agree!! I am looking forward to getting my Broken Skull and with Lynn using it as his work knife makes me know it must be a good hard use edc. 😊👍 Kevin

The broken skull packs lot of blade length in a slimmer package. A more utilitarian design than the recon 1's I normally carry. I think it is a great looking design.

I've not ordered one, because have the recon 1, and they work fine.

Well I got my Broken Skull today and see why Lynn carries one. So much knife in such a lite weight package!! I like it 👍 Kevin

I understand your reasoning, Bigfattyt, but I still highly encourage you to get one. The Broken Skull is unlike any other Cold Steel folder (or any other maker's folder, really) in size, weight, material, fit-and-finish, and just plain "feel." It's the ultra-thin, ultra-light, ultra-strong lockback that I think A.G. Russell has been pursuing unsuccessfully for years.

I don't mean to be an enabler (well, maybe I do just a little bit!), but you need to try a Broken Skull. You'll thank me later!
