Morning all,

I am about to try to make my first mosaic pin. After the set up i will flow 1 hour epoxy into the opening on top till it runs out the bottom. The question I have is what to put in the epoxy to give it some color. I'm probably looking for black but a gray or dark blue might work. Thanks

I suck the epoxy in myself. I put a piece of clear hose on one end of the outside tube and then mix up the epoxy and color it with a touch of enamel paint. Then I set the container of epoxy in a pan of very warm water (makes epoxy flow better) and suck hard on the clear tube. When I can suck no more I hold my tongue on the end of the tube. I wait a while then suck some more until the epoxy starts into the clear tube. then fold it over very hard and tape it off set it upside down. I now have a vacuum pump. Another thing you can do is fill parts with different colors. Lets say you have a small center tube. You can fill it with red and allow to harden then place it in a square tube and fill the gaps with yellow, then do final assembly and use red again or even a complete different color. Which reminds me I am low on pins stock. I use the 5minute stuff myself. Bonding strength is not that important, just get everything ready. Jim

If your looking for black, india ink and powered charcoal work well. You can also use a little oil based artist's paint for other colors, but it will slow the cure time by a little. Hope this helps.

Check out K&G Supplies- they carry black-red-blue- white-flesh- just a little of the powder with the epoxy works great. Mike

Same idea but I put the plastic tube on to a small syringe .
