What colors do you wear?

Tans, grays, and forest or dark greens
Lighter in the summer for the heat and darker in the winter

As little OD as possible, too Army
And no camo
There is a lot of Army here, and it is important to not be seen in clothing that is too uniform like

For leisure hiking, I generally wear "natural colors" like solid green or tan, that aren't too visually aggressive and allow to see some wildlife, without being camo.
For work or emergency application, I'll take a high-viz jacket or a light high-viz vest.

when just out hiking, and it is not hunting season, I wear whatever will be comfortable. That means shorts and short sleeve shirts most of the year. Yellow, green, brown, khaki............... it all works for me. Shown here in a N. Fl. Swamp...........

I don't usually wear camo, but I dress in more muted or neutral tones as I am not typically a fan of very "loud" colors.

Most recent backpacking trip, and fairly par for the course for me:

3 seasons of the year I try to wear lighter colored clothing like lighter khaki or whites, they show dirt easily but it also akes it easier to spot ticks which are a big problem with the prevalence of Lymes disease around here.

Good point about the ticks. There is this spot behind my house where they were having a some sort of convention early last summer. I couldn't walk by without picking up several hitchikers. Luckily they seem to take their time before digging in, so there is a pretty good window to spot them and brush them off.

I mostly wear some sort of camo pattern in the winter. That, or Orange if I am going elsewhere due to hunting seasons. In the spring and summer I will wear shades of green. In the fall, it is dependent on the weather. If it's cold, a camo pattern jacket, or if it is warmer, I will just wear a regular OD green shirt.

Kinda funny, some people are known around here for their token tools-UpNorth, I have a feeling you're fast becoming our designated shovel and metal detector guy. Maybe you can do thread on it.

Earth tones with black and grey mostly however I'll wear any color of shirt with that. Could be green, could be red.

Chris, do yourself a favor and buy the red/white Rothco shemagh. Best 7 bucks you'll ever spend on survivasexy fashion. Good for everything-trail pillow or towel, macro water filter, neck or face scarf, an under-the-hat neck shade, emergency bandage or signal.

And to think those gangstas could be doing something cool with their time... like bushcrafting. :D
The shemagh is one of my favorite pieces of gear. It goes with me even if my pack doesn't. In addition to what you've said I've also used it as a table for cheese and crackers and as a fanny pack.

I don't know a whole lot about shovels bud, but I've been into the metal detecting for a few years now. Actually I see it as any other outdoor hobby and I get a LOT of outdoor time because of it. Two years ago I wore my Becker Bk-2 most of the season. And a few years ago I was really comboing it. Metal detector broken down in a pack, Becker Brute down my leg, all while riding out of town on a motorcycle.
:D
Some get all pizzy faced when it comes to people metal detecting for relics, although I go on private property with permission. They'd rather see them erode out of a river bank and disappear forever down a river. So I shy away from going there.
