What could possibly be better than a GEC #25?

After returning to knife collecting after a long hiatus. I recently researched and purchased a number of knives in pursuit of the perfect EDC. I do not look for flash, gizmos or features in my knives. I look for simple beauty and functionality. The closest thing I found to perfection is the GEC model 25. I own a couple of them and I could not be more pleased. But like my most knife nuts, I could not leave well enough alone. I continued my search for something that would be even more perfect. Did I find it? Yes! the GEC number 26. As most of you already know the number 26 is the exact same frame as the 25 however the main knife blade is on the heavier end of the bolster which allows for a more substantial blade and joint making an even more stout knife for this size. And as an added benefit you get an additional blade to complete the package. Don't get me wrong I will always love the 25 but the 26 has em beat by a hair in my view.

They are very nice knives, but a bit on the small side for my tastes. They seem to be very popular, though. Glad you like yours!

The GEC #25 is what got me back into traditional folders and I still don't think there is any better.

I am not a fan of multi blade knives and don't own a single one except Victorinox.

GEC makes some beautiful knives, no question about it. I own a few traditionals (Buck and Case) but never really got into them. 1. I admittedly prefer a lock (I know some have locks). 2. I'm not a fan of bone (I know not all have bone handles). I like some of the Patroit Kirinite offerings from Case.

Gotta love the 25's. There were a few of them made with two blades but my favorite has always been the Easy Opens with a single Sheepsfoot blade.

I like the #26's too. I used to own a #26 Little Carver but I sold it. Should have kept it. That little Wharncliffe blade was great.

Here's an Elk handled #25 that alluded me for 5 years until I finally snagged it on the exchange.

Get a 77.

 +1

I had a few 25's but realized they are WAY TOO SMALL for me. 77 is perfection IMO!
Thank goodness we all have different taste. How boring would it be if everyone liked the same thing.

I'm new to traditional folders, but so far my favorites are the two being mentioned here. My 25 is always in the watch pocket, but just got a 77 sheepsfoot on the exchange last week, and it's been nothing but love. My solution is both- 25 for the coin pocket backup, 77 for rfp!

I like the ones with unxld stamped in the bolster. I got a couple of them, wouldn't mind my spare bedroom full of em

WOW! I want a 25 acorn shield like that!

^drool!*

A knife with a clip and thumbstud? :p

More seriously, glad you found a knife that you're in love with and I definitely recommend chatting with the guys over in the traditionals forum. They're an awesome bunch in general.

How about a GEC #14?

Or a Canal Street Cutlery Boy's Knife?

Or a vintage Case Sodbuster Jr.?

Or more CSC Boy's Knives?

But now I want a #25.

Great looking little knives and I had a pair in antique amber jigged bone, one spear point, one sheepsfoot and sold both this weekend as I just felt they were too small. Love how they looked though.
