What could these be?

On a job rigging heavy equipment. These plates of steel were going to get tossed. Since I started making knives, tossing something like this seems somehow wrong. I figured I can use them for something. They are solid steel plates 1/2" thick and 6" square. Any ideas what I could use them for?

They would make great fixture plates for a milling machine.

1/2x6x6" would mean the width is 12x the thickness. Looks more like 1/4x6x6"

Most likely so. I didn't have a ruler. It seems really thick to me, but I have only used 1/8" steel for blades so my perception is probably skewed.

I was thinking I could use them to straighten warped blades right out of the quench. Haven't warped one yet, but expect I will eventually.

Or, if one day I make a real grinder, as a tool rest. These weigh almost as much as my hf 1x30, so not going on there.

You could weld a "T" on the bottom to go in your vice and use the edges like Nick Wheeler does to do his plunges.
