What Defines a Tactical Knife?

There are a number of 'elements' I would expect to see from a tactical knife.

1. One handed opening
2. black blade/handle
3. Hi tech materials
4. Pocket clip or Kydex sheath
5. An Americanised Tanto tip:rolleyes:
6. An advertising campaign that claims the blade can cut an engine block in half and still cut a hair into four seperate slices:p
7. Oh and a OTT stupid/hard name for the wanabee commando's that use a knife for scaring their own reflextion in the mirror "are you looking at me?":rolleyes:
 
In the first issue of "Tactical Knives" magazine, Editor Steven Dick posed this same question.

I think Razoredj summed it up best and I agree with him,
"-- I would think a "tactical" knife, as originally intended, is any knife designed and intended for use as both a utility and self-defense blade."

It has been OVER-hyped though! ;)
 
Whaddadick This forum IS full of morons.
Emerson bashing is reaching new levels. I guess when you're the best, everyone tries to knock you down to THEIR level, which around here is about snakes-belly. I'll draw my Emerson Waved-7 or Commander up against ANY knife you got, Bubba, and we'll see who's left standing.
Better yet, say that to Ernie's face. He'll hand you your balls even if he's unarmed.

Posting material of this type doesn't exactly elevate you to a level above those you are criticizing. The post to which you took offense may have been inappropriate, but this is no better.
