I've drawn up a few designs. What type of seax? And I definitely ill do a seax, just not sure if I should for this piece.

Try google-image-searching for sax OR seax. If you prefer searching for one term, use seax rather than sax and avoid the saxophones.
Why a seax? Because everyone likes them? Because it's a good first project with its relatively simple lines?
It's possible that some of the more impatient types around here are wondering when you'll make your choice and get going.
By the way, if you wanted to make a doloire, and your blank were wide enough (I still think 2" isn't wide enough), you could drill the blade and bolt or rivet a strap on rather than forging a socket.
I'm no0t a fan of the curved bladed seaxes though. Just make them look like a clip point.
