What determines the smoothness of a folder?

BM42/3 and MT Tachyon. I haven't got funds for customs. But more often than not I find myself playing with 40TR. Call me a wimp, I just want to save my fingers typing and writing!

Same here! BM42, 43 and the MT Tachyon.

Thanks,

I don't buy the Heating and expanding metal theory. Unless you are wildly whipping the blade back and forth for a long time, there is no way you are building up significant heat.

I will not consider other types of locks such as lockback which are not meant to be operated one handed.

They're not? Not trying to be a smarta$$, it's just that the first real folders I've ever owned or even spent any time with (Delica 4 CE and Dragonfly PE SS) arrived today, and I've opened and closed the Delica all day with one hand. Spyderco's web site even has a page that tells you the best way to do it. Am I missing something here?

No, you're not missing anything there, that was just a demonstration of poor knowledge on my side not being around Spyderco knives. Sorry bout that.
