It seems that you bought a sword - more-or-less a Katana - made in China in the last six months.

Too good to be true = untrue.

Life is hopefully an educational experience.

Im gonna save Karda a trip to the cantina. I dont think your supposed to be posting auction or sales links in the HI forums. Might wanna check the sticky rules.

if it is a newly produced Chinese blade, im not out much money, from the pics though it appears the wood has more years on it to my eyes..
not trying to break any forum rules just wanted to know what i bought, feel free to delete the post
thanks

Here is the rule from the owner of Bladeforums: "Don't link to eBay, sportsmans guide, Craigslist, etc."

Clear enough?

to be fair taking chances on ebay is the only reason i even know HI exists
i bought a HI talwar on ebay and didnt know what it was for over 5 years, until someone enlightened me to what U.B stood for
in closing sorry i pissed anyone off asking a simple question, perhaps it will be okay to ask what the blade is once i own it.

in closing sorry i pissed anyone off asking a simple question some of you guys seem a little on edge lately, you may live longer if ya relax a bit.

You were given only simple facts. Sorry if you find that offensive.

Above all, do not blame HI. HI neither makes the rules nor trains the thousands of members in how to act.

Flower,
Take a pic of that Talwar, would love to see it. Relax man, now you know not to post that, its all good. HI is a good place to hang out just dont use ebay in your posts, we like to say I picked this one up  Check out the collection thread here and if ya have some blades or any thing you collect you can post them over there and no worries.

Gee.... I get all beat up clearing snow and come home to this.....
There is a sitewide rule against the posting of links to sites that are not supporting members of bladeforums.
Additionally we do not care for links on this forum that not only break the sitewide rules, but may be competitors to the HI product, whatever that may be.....

Please take time to read the posted forum rules:

Discussion of these items is fine. Pictures are fine. As long as you take your own pictures or use pictures that cannot be traced back to the item for sale.

I and we as mods in general try to be respectful, tolerant, lenient and forgiving.
That being said, please be respectful of Aunties house and be friendly. The usage of coarse language, vulgarities or other inappropriateness here is not permitted or tolerated. Please treat the forum and Cantina as if you are in Aunties house as a guest, because that is exactly where you are.

i apologize i did not mean to upset anyone

here is the talwar that brought me to HI in the first place, funny thing is like i said i knew nothing of its origin for many years
all i really could tell was it was made by a master bladesmith and felt very different than anything in my collection

That is a nice one.
Is it just me or is a Tarwar a different sword than a Talwar? Both my talwar were the standard steel hilted, draw-cut only Indian subcontinent fighting swords, while the HI tarwar seems more like a heavy dha.
?

Luckilly I got my forge inside (yay break drums) before all this lovely crap hit. My anvil is still outside I'm afraid, but oh well. I need some more coal anyways, this last batch of stuff I got turned into a gloopy mess, stuck to the steel and everything.

@ thomas linton--- alaska has been unseasonably warm, it is because of climate change that the polar vortex destabilized and dipped so far south, the extremes of weather will only continue and increase, as we continue to devour the life support system for our species, our extinction will come with a whimper.
