His notice of birth appeared in two local newspapers at the time - in Hawaii. Now that is advance planning. :rolleyes:
 
i drive a hybrid, raise chickens, dont have trash pickup, have a couple of food gardens..
but yah we are all in trouble between wars, fukishima, deep water horizon, and overpopulation, my children will not grow up in the same world we knew.
 
I think we as a species need to work on living in harmony with our environment, that's for sure.

Consumption culture is a heck of a thing. Energy-efficient appliances and gas-efficient cars will only get us so far if we don't make an effort to use less and waste less. I know how easy it is to enjoy the luxury and comfort of modern life though, and it's not an effort everyone would be willing to make.
 
I truly wish I grew up pre industrial revolution, back in the frontier as hunters and trappers like my French Canadian, and Native American ancestors.
 
I saw 4 deer in my front yard just before dark today. Nice 2 point and 3 does.

Sounds like any other politician to me. I guess the nice and honest ones never make it to the top, be it democrats or republicans.
Same in business btw. Thats why its unlikely that one of us HI guys here will ever be some president or CEO. And yes thats a compliment :thumbup:

I like to think that the H.I. Cantina is a place where we can buy each other a drink and enjoy ourselves, regardless of political persuasions, seeing that we have more similarities than differences.
 
My issues with BHO: The lies, denial, and otherwise crap that has flown from his lips. He's supported our enemy, moved to infringe constitutional rights, and been ignorant to many instances of corruption in his regime, including singling out specific groups of people (IRS). He's completely failed at the proposed economic turnaround, in fact it's gotten worse with the new ACA. I respect the man, and his position of authority, but I do NOT support the idea of someone haughty enough to think that he and his regime are above the law.
 
Sadly I think pretty much every US politician needs to be in with the special interest billionaire groups and major corporations to get anywhere on a national scale. Doesn't matter which side wins.

I'll buy the next round and I'm game for about 6 more after that. Except you, Darth. I'll buy you a milk or something. :p

I'm sure this thread has already violated several site rules. Truth be told, those complicated rules which I can never remember are in place to keep things from spinning out of control. The standards of gentlemanly conduct which are expected in the Cantina do the same thing.

Periodically we forget, and risk losing the chance to learn from each other in civil discourse.

Yes. Political discussion as it pertains to Nepal is one thing. Random political discussion is another, We have an entire forum where that belongs.
