WHAT DID YOU CARRY IN THE MILITARY?

Not blood but at least a donor center with boxes.
Were you in charge of Operation Golden Flow? 🤔

I hear ya...;)

Carried this 119 on deployments in the 80's - 90's and it served me well.
It got mixed up in a bunch of gear I shipped back home and didn't find it again till I was looking around my dad's shop 15 or so years later. Thankfully I found it before pops took it to the bench grinder again.
Man, if knives could talk...I'd suggest a gag order on this one lol.🤣
Also had a long lost 110 that was customized by a teammate with some sweet finger grooves, first time I'd seen anyone do that to a 110, wish I could remember the guys name, pretty sure he'd be hanging around here if he's still among us, good cat.

Great American Craftsmanship, one of the best production knives of the period.

I bought mine at the MCRD Exchange, still love that knife. Unfortunately its at home, so no pictures. I had always wanted the one with the longer blade, but never could find one. A couple of years ago, a guy came in the shop with one in mint condition and wanted to do some trading. So now I have both models 😊

I bought a Gerber gator but one of my ncos threw a hissy fit about it (still have it)
So I traded it out for a smaller Gerber lst (gifted it to my sister when she moved out of state for college)
And a Gerber multi tool which I still have hit I ganked up the wire cutters real bad cutting a fishing hook...I still have this one too but it sits in my truck tool kit

Out in the field we had to have our bayonets so there was little room for other stuff along with our 1911's, mag carriers for that plus M16, canteen, bandage & compass pouches, etc., I tried carrying a fixed blade out in the field once but that proved a PITA with people always trying to borrow it and abuse it. In garrison I had a wood & brass Kabar lockback on my pistol belt for on duty. Off duty in Europe I carried a "Othello" Italian style auto. That was about it. One unit I was in forbid knives in the barracks due to near weekly race riots, muggings, etc. Some of the barracks in Germany in VII corp were tougher and more dangerous than some prisons I worked at in my career. Imagine prisons with huge amounts of drugs and alcohol. :)

What did they say, may I ask? It seems like a decent size little folder, was it the clip point model?

It was
But what that particular nco said was
If the blade was wider than my palm it was forbidden..
Ironically it was the exact same size as my palm but he decided to err on the side of caution
