what did you do with your xm-18 today?

Evan that was a good read but I would be careful in a situation like that. A couple of weeks ago a man was shot in his car at a gas station by a road rage driver.

When I got home, one of the first things my wife said was what if he had a gun? Well, I had clear site of the guy and could have got away if I wanted, but in the end, you never know. Honestly, the only reason I stopped was I figured he would keep following me if I didn't and really didn't want him to know where I lived and have to worry about future confrontations with me or my family. I wanted to confront him on my own terms.
What I have thought about even more is what if I had to actually use the knife? I am not a violent guy, I really like my knives for useful tools and admire them for their craftsmanship and collectability. It feels great to carry a knife knowing if you need it for self defense, it's there for you; However, I kept thinking how much of a pain in the ass it would have been if I actually had to stab this psycho and then deal with the hours of police explanations and possible trial afterwards? I am in the middle of a BIG move and transition to a new job and had no time for this... it would have really messed everything up, not to mention, the guy.
I honestly think the guy was having a really bad day and his emotions got the best of him. It was as if he just got the call that his wife was cheating on him with his best friend for being a psychopath, and he flipped... who knows, but that would drive most guys crazy!
All I know for sure is the guy was twice my size and there's no way I could have taken him without the leverage of my Xm18.

This week:

I had a air conditioner compressor and a furnace installed, so I cut cardboard box's into shooting range target backers.
I cut the squeaker out of my dogs toy monkey so she dosnt swallow it an choke.
I cut a steak on grill to check doneness.
I cut some knots out of a friends dog's coat.

Today just looked at it. Tomorrow, cutting about 75 heavy zip ties. Killing about 150 boxes and then go home. End of my day of work.

someone left a bag of tomatoes tied to my lawnmower so I had to release the power of the XM-18 to free this bag.:p

Cut open a box at work with my 3", we were moving some desks. Had to use a big allen wrench of which the long part had rubber on it. Only the small part could actually be used but because of limited space near the screw, i had to use the long part. Got out my xm and cut up the rubber, job done in seconds. And nobody even blinked...

Cut up some rope cause my gf asked me.

Good score for the day!

yeah, I'm guilty, I batonned with a folder, the 3" xm-18 to be exact.
I burned a wooden chair in my fire thing in the garden (firepit?) just for fun with the kids and when I was putting in the wood, I saw an opportunity for some knife action. At that moment, I only had the 3" on me and since it was the backpart of the chair and soft Ikea wood I decided it could do no harm. It didn't. worked well actually, the xm has a good spine with a nice width.

then I went to the woods with my 3.5", you can read about that here

finally, I sharpened my 3" to hair whittling sharp, you can read about that here.

all in all, a very good day and my knives saw some nice use.

Lets see, used it to get a splinter out of my cousins finger, and then cut open a few boxes.
