I think the CQC-16 may be the first knife that Emerson made that is not specifically a tactical knife, but actually a hunting knife.

Exactly. I read somewhere that Emerson stated the CQC- 16 is their first folding hunting knife. Due to consumer request for it. I sure have my eye on one.

of all the EKI line the '16 is one i havent actually seen or handled yet, i do like the looks though.

I love the blade on the 16 but the handle's too short for my meathooks. My first, and only, Emerson is my CQC-14 Snubby. I now want a large Emersons but can't decide 'tween the 8, Super-8, SOCFK, or Super SOCFK. It'll be mainly for defense and the rare times the 14 can't handle something.

super SOCFK's are pretty cool, on your list i would go super SOCFK, SOCFK, super '8 and '8 as far as desireability, imho the SOCFK's (std and super) dont get enuff respect, i really like mine and edc'd a green G10 tanto SOCFK for ~ a yr and it worked very well for me, probably other than the '12 the SOCFK is one of my faves, a few yrs back when the '7 wasnt waved i wondered why anyone chose the '7 over the SOCFK, the SOCFK was waved, had imho a better more ergononomic handle (blade was the same) and to top it off was cheaper, i suppose not many folks knew WTF about 'em though, i guess they are still not real well known, great knives though.

Are all current production Emersons going to be available with true satin finish? No more coating?

New ones will be either BT coated or stonewashed. No more ceramic coating on the "satins."

The latest mini A-100's and CQC-10s have already gone out with the stonewashing... Haven't seen any others besides the super 8 yet, but that's what they're doing now.
