I want to see what you guys scored this week. Whether it's old, new, rusty and dusty or straight from Andy, I want to see it.

It's been a long hard search, but with perseverance and lots of patience, I finally scored the infamous Woodsman. 5/32" CPM3V in coffee been burlap.

Wow dude. You have been after that for a while. Congrats, she's a beauty. Where did you pick it up?

Duder:

Nice to see you finally got some "wood".......and in stainless no doubt. Awesome texturing.......Cheers !

Wow! That woodsman in cpm3v with a coffee burlap handle is an epic score. Congrats!

Hahaha. It's not really CPM3V ("Embellisment thread"). It's 01. I still love it though.

woh, I almost had a heart attack thinking that you were serious about the blade being 3V!!!!!

I love my 01's, but an FB in 3V would be epic.

great score anyways, I think the burlap in that color epitomizes the functional beauty that is FB.

Nice catch Joe. I love 3V. I wonder why Andy does not use it? I have thumped on some 3V, and it never even gasped. Keeps an edge very well, somewhat stain resistant. It is a go to steel for hard use. Does anyone know where Andy stands on this issue? I suspect it is more money than 01, and I also suspect that it is harder to machine than 01, but I would be curious to know if he has ever talked about it.

I have a BLC on the way. The embellishment is the "C" substitute it with a T. its lunch time

I'm sure there are bunch of others who know better, but I do remember reading one of Andy's posts that one of the reasons for his preference for 01 is its ease of sharpening, so a benefit in that sense both for Andy and for the user. I remember Dan Eastland (who used to apprentice for Andy) talking about in addition to the higher cost of the blade itself, the subsequent processing (e.g. polish/grinding) itself is much more expensive as it'll chew through the belts much faster. Established, production manufacturers like Bark River probably has enough revenue to justify the cost, but probably not the best for custom makers. Even production companies with relatively high output can have issues manufacturing with 3V steel (especially if they're just starting out); for example, it took about 10 months for me to receive my pre-order for GSO 10 from Survive! despite them originally quoting 3 months or less as they cited various delays, some of which emanated from 3V being a hard steel process.

I think I remember Andy having hammered the 3V blade he made into a tree stump vowing to never make another... I might be mistaken, but I think it was something like that..

A 5/32" 3V Hunter is grail material imho...

Yea, I was on the wait list for the GSO 10 as well. Now that I have it, I was not going to get the larger FB knives, but I just could not resist myself. They are just too beautiful. I do have plenty of 3V options if I need them. I was just curious if it had ever been discussed.
