What did you use your multi-tool for today?

I had a couple of multitool-intensive days.

On Monday I helped a friend fix his car (a rusty piece of crap that's held together by some sort of magic), I know nothing about cars but I had a flashlight and two multitools on me (ST Spirit and Squirt PS4) and following the directions of a mate of mine who actually understood the damned machine we got it running.

Yesterday I used my Super Tool 300 to replace old wiring at my girlfriend's house and install some new light fixtures.

Resurrecting an old thread. I didn't see a newer one.

Extracted old batteries from a remote:

I attached the ears on a cat :)

...a 10" long pinewood derby car my daughter and I are building for next weekends race. She wanted to make her car look like her cat, so I used the saw to cut a notch in the "head" of the car to fit the ears. The ears are made out of small conical fishing weights. I used the crimping part of the tool to machine them flatter to look more like car ears.

Last weekend, I uses the main blade to carve the body into a rough shape before hitting it with the sander.

Vic SwissTool chisel. Weird, I rarely if ever use this thing. This week I used it to scrape off some tape from a window. Today I used the corner/edge of the chisel to take off seal from a wine bottle. Worked well for that; short blade with good control but no need to worry about the edge.

More use today for the multitool my buddy gifted me.

(The Case Mako lockback wound up staying on my belt, since I already had the multitool out, and it had a knife blade)

The knife blade got used for opening the packaging. The scissors trimmed the window gaskets to size. The pliers got mostly used for mounting the door hardware. I used the awl to poke and pry in a semi- successful attempt to re-form a crushed male slider tab.

I got the roof panels mounted by myself no problem, but when it got time to secure them to the side panels with screws, one of the 4 screws required, as explained in the instructions, a second person pushing down from the outside to fully seat the roof panels. Voilà my “second person” 🤣:

The most frustrating part of the whole operation turned out to be peeling the protective paper from the plastic window panes😫. That stuff was stuck on good - I wound up having to scrape it off bit by bit with my fingernails and an old plastic gift card, while running it under hot water.🤬

Opened the box around 7:30, and was all done and cleaned up by 11:00.

This last week I went to visit my kids for the thanksgiving holiday and took along my Arc. It came in handy several times and got a good workout in various tasks. I used the Magnacut blade of course, the saw, screw drivers, even tightened grandsons eye glasses screws, the file, pliers and scissors. It did fantastic! IMG_0393.jpeg

I didn't use mine for anything today BUT I did buy another Wave + from Amazon on sale last night. I had a different Leatherman in my camping van which had not been used in a very long time so gave it to my son when he went off to college. Now, some years later, I got the van back together, had it serviced and washed. When I took it for a shakedown drive, I couldn't find my Leatherman, and remembered I'd passed it along so ordered a new Wave +, arriving tomorrow. Then, and only then, can I go camping... :)
