Hey, the idea for this kind of thread in this forum comes from nyefmaker :thumbup:, he did the same for the sebenza and the mnandi. I love those, so, since I love the umnumzaan and I guess we are all interested in the use of the knife, I guess this could be a very informative and fun thread as well.

Since recently there have been some threads of people that doubt the qualities of the ummie, this will be a good place to show them and all other interested to the good uses we put it to and the capabilities it has.

Let's see what your use is of the knife and get some good stories and insights on how we use and abuse the umnumzaan:thumbup:

I used mine to cut some sandpaper since I'm trying to learn convex sharpening (not yet on the ummie :)).

Used it in my youtube review for my knife storage system in a pelican case 1600 , and cut some dead parts of various plants in the house :D.
Oh, and of course, I play with it a lot :)

I trimmed a couple finger nails,stirred my coffee(funny taste to it),cut a

peice of bread.I thought wash the blade off after doing all that cutting and

stirring.

What a Workout.
 
Let's see,

--cut an orange
--chopped a frozen bird feeder, to loosen the seeds
--admired its beauty

Not everyone can handle the awesomeness of the Umnum, a knife whose stamina and willingness to please can be too intimidating for some at first...

Only after owning it twice was I myself ready to make a long term commitment with it. Some it may take 3 or 4 times :)
 
Chipped some ice off of my heat pump with the glass breaker. It was during the bizzard and I couldn't go back inside. ( If I did I would not have gone back out!!!!)

I finally found a Umnum I had to have and I love the way this knife feels in my hand. I've only had it a couple of days so I havn't got to use it much but last night I did cut the end of a cigar open with it.
 
opened mail, cut open the top of my daughters valentine box for school, dug out holes for the eyes on our snowman we made, then took her apart for the first time. AWESOME!
 
opened a pizza yesterday, cut open a package containing a new knife, cut a hose so I could fill up my heating system with water again, admired it and showed it off a little ;)
 
I haven't used mine for anything today,...but I've only owned one for about two hours now;):thumbup:
 
congrats!!! used mine while working on a leather sheet i'm making for it. cutting leather. just spilled black leather paint all over the kitchen. damn.
 
I have been doing a partial kitchen remodel. Installing new coutertops, sink, faucets, formica, etc. and I have been using my umnumzaan through it all. It has worked great. It has become my beater CRK so to speak. I do not abuse it in any way ( prying, etc ), but it gets used heavily and since its so heavily made, I know its up to any task I throw at it. The swedge has come in handy as well many times. I used the swedge to scrape the spackle from the metal putty knives this morning. I used the zaan to trim the foam from the "great stuff " foam gap filler around the window ( though I did find my mnandi to work better ). You name it, during this installation, I have used my zaan for everything.
 
Used mine in the kitchen cutting up pork ribs. I love this knife for everything!

Put a blister in my thumb from opening so much. It's new and trying to get it broken in now. No way can it be flicked open now. Any suggestions?
