What did your knife do today?

Used my knife while building a chicken pen and done some whittling on a love spoon I'm making for my wife.

Well "today" (the day I found this thread) is Monday 5/23/11, so technically I'll tell you what my knife did "yesterday" 5/22/11!

My Ontario Randall Model 1 folder mostly remained in my pocket, until my five year old decided he wanted to fish in the little branch that runs by our barn. No pole in the truck, so I did for him what we did as kids:

Cut a good stick from a tree (White Oak, it was closer than the Black Willow across the bottom -- so I used it. Doesn't matter, he didn't bait the hook anyway. He just wanted to play in water.), stripped it of leaves and branches. Then uncorded a piece of nylon haystring for fishing line and tied a couple piece together, end to end, to make a long enough piece to cast into the water. Finally, whittled my boy a hook from a suitable branch stripped off the limb and let him have at it.

Best thing my knife has done in its entire service life.

I know, I know....pics or it didn't happen. Sorry folks, sometimes life don't stop for pics.

Id like to see a picture of that!

Today mine cut zip ties, picked out under my fingernails, cut a rubberband. Yes my knife had it tough today.

Well today

cut a lot more 550 for the bracelet projects I'm doing, and opened me a pack of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups! And it cut half the filter off an icky 100 cig since I was temporarily out of my reds (cowboy killers) and I HATE smoking 100s, but that's what my buddy had. Oh well at least they weren't menthols.

leatherman cut boxes at work today.. main knife (RAT Model 1) just got flicked around for fun..rough day for her I know..

Mine hung on my belt and took it easy today. Maybe I'll make up for it tomorrow.....

Was cleaning my gutters this afternoon and used my Becker Necker to trim some rogue branches from our silver maple.

My Case Medium Stockman opened a bag of chips while I was flying at 6,000' over Bayji, Iraq! LOL! Just HAD to put this one in here!

Today I used my folder to cut about 30 pieces of paracord for some bracelets I made, and to open a pack of bacon this morning. Then used a Fiddleback K.E. Bushie in some photos for a tutorial on fire lighting that will be published in a book in the UK in a few weeks.

Forgot to post this the other day but here's my BK11 providing scope and scale for a soaked, nasty geocache container in a large poison ivy patch (a bit of which can be seen here).

Used my Buck Redpoint to clean out the lawn mower. (Big weeds wrapped around the wheels)

Among (many) other tasks, I used my knife yesterday to make....a knife:)

It actually works great for stirring and spreading things on bread. Basically, I was just whittling and relaxing next to the fire and I had already recently carved a fork, a whistle, and a spoon...

Well over the week took 3 blades with me the Esee Izula, Spyderco Resilience, HEST folder. the Izula did the dirty work like digging in the dirt, cutting rope, and in the river. the Resilience, sliced chicken and other foods that needed slicing, the HEST folder was chillin in my pocket cracking open my Dos Equis...

One of the local nationals here on the base got his clothes caught in a branch of sone thorny tree that grows over here and couldn't reach to free himself. As I was walking up I saw his predicament and pulled out my knife. He saw it and stood still while I sliced that branch free. Easy job.
