What do .500 Linebaugh owners carry?

This is just a guess--but I'd venture to say a 6' broadsword.

Ace bandages, wrist splints, their health plan card, and extra batteries for their hearing aids.

Gun Tests recently reviewed the .454 Casull. They had great difficulty firing any of the three revolvers tested, due to the savage recoil. This was with the use of a padded rest they could use standing up, to allow the shoulder to absorb part of the recoil, and PAST shooting gloves. The Ruger had functioning problems, the Freedom Arms broke in the Ransom Rest, but the Taurus performed well, but was not pleasant at all to shoot.

If you need a cartridge of this class, you, IMHO, really need a rifle. Walt

Great ideas, guys. Maybe a .454 Casull hideout derringer to back up the .500L? Then there are the thermonuclear options, but I guess we really should be thinking blades here...
Thanks for the grins. Saw the Glock thread and couldn't resist--hope I'm excused for such a lavish waste of "bandwidth". Will

Bagwell Helle's Belle - the original forged edition.

I think NAA needs to build a .357 minirevolver with a one-finger grip. Oh yea!

Hey, wasn't a broadsword specifically made for women?

Jim, I'll look around for where I saw it, but somebody makes basically just that! It's a slim little thing, fits in the palm of your hand. I think it's single-shot, and it certainly doesn't look like a derringer, but it comes in .357 and (I think) some others like .41 mag, 40 S&W, etc. Give me a day or two to find where I saw it. I actually thought about getting one for school someday--nobody would know this thing was there!

This is too funny to be a waste of bandwidth. I read the title four times today before figuring it out and clicking

If the little palm-shot is a single shot, you'd need to carry two of them, or learn how to load it real fast, or both...

Or maybe never plan to shoot at more than one person...

Hi Gwinny,

I think that I know what you are talking about. I sw an ad for one a few weeks ago that featured it hiduing inside a pack of playing cards.

Pretty sweet little gun.

I think it is also available in .22 mag and .32 (or .38) but I could be wrong. I'll trry to find the magazine I saw it in.

Later,
John

A spyderco Wegner goes well with any gun.

And what sort of knives do real men, those who carry the old Freedom Arms .45-70 and .50-70 revolvers, carry?

I remember where I saw it now, but I don't have it here. It was in a handgun "buyers guide" issue, maybe of "Handguns?" My parents gave it to me for Christmas since they couldn't afford a handgun.

If anybody has this issue, take a look in the "other" category. Neat little gun. I seem to remember the authors being impressed by something about the hammer resetting, so maybe it's not a single-shot after all.

Capacity might not be great, but it's enough to get some nut with a gun or a knife, and you can palm it while trying to talk him down with nobody the wiser.

Hah! 500 Linebaugh... How Pathetic!

I want to know what real REAL manly (i.e. stupid) people carry, those who carry the Rhino 50 BMG sinlge shot pistol. At 14 puonds, I doubt if it really qualifies, but Bigger is Better to lots of people.

Actually, a much more practical, and useful gun, than either the 500 or the 454 is a REdhawk 45 colt. It weighs less than any of the above, holds six rounds, is durable as heck, and, with handloads and a 7.5 inch barrel, can throw 360 grain Hammerhead bullets at 1300 fps. Great for concealed carry.

Wonder if you could still get 800 fps or so if you cut it down to a 2.5" snub? Now THAT's concealable. Especially on someone as naturally lumpy as I am.

Suggested advisory to the bad guy:
"Freeze, or I'll set up my Ransom rest!"
