I ordered a Range bag from some company on the net. I paid using my debit card. here is the sequence of events.

1. I was looking for a bug out bag and found one that suited my purposes on line with a company in Michigan. I ordered it and paid via my debit card. ($62.99)

2. I receive confirmation that they had received my order.

3 the next day they debit my account for the $62.99 and send me a email saying that they have completed my transaction but the item was "waiting for parts" in other words back ordered. I think its B.S. that they can charge my card and then back order the item.

4. I call the company via phone and tell them to cancel my order and credit my bank account.

5. I receive a email saying that they have credited my account MINUS A 15% RESTOCKING FEE WTF???

6. I call them up and speak with some dumb chick there who tells me that she is the one who credited my account. I tell her that it is B.S. to charge me a "restocking fee" when the item was not even in stock. I also told her that I could understand being charged a restocking fee if I had buyers remorse and that they had to take it back out of the box. Back out the shipping charges out of their UPS server etc. but this was b.s. She mumbles something about fixing it and speaking with her boss but two days later I have heard nothing.

so what do I do

answer poll.

That's "horse ka-ka !" Restocking fees are associated with the return of an item.

Since the item was back ordered, you shouldn't have to absorb a "restocking" fee.

Don't deal with the tards that you ordered with ! Go directly to your credit card company and file a dispute with them.

Please post a link of the on-line outfit, so that I won't err and do business with them.

Here's what I would do:

- call an ask for the boss.
- tell them it's illegal to debit someone when the item is not in stock
- demand a FULL refund
- Send a follow up letter to the company and to the attourney general for the state
- Ask they're business license be reviked.
- Buy a voodoo dool from your local steet vendor
...
...

When it hasn't been shipped yet, how can they "re-stock" it???

Dunno, but I'd like to know the name of the company so I can avoid such caca... I, too, love to eshop for bags, especially when comparing prices... So I'd rather avoid the prechargers for back ordered stock!

Good luck!

Call them back if you don't see it in a couple of days, if they refunded it as a cc, it migh ttake longer than if they ran it as debit. The cc companies hold refunds for 'processing' a few days longer than it takes them to deduct the charges on a purchase. I'd like to know the total revenue stream they get on the cummulative intrest from holding onto folks $ like that...

Dontcha just love getting jerked off by people? I wouldn't spend one more second on this BS from these clowns. Call your credit card company and let them deal with it.

My vote was for calling again and demanding they refund the restocking fee, but if that doesn't work, then you should take it up with the card issuer.

maybe the restocking fee is credited tomorrow.

Ren

I've looked at them before - thanks for the head's up!

And I still wish you luck in this...

What a crock!!!

To charge a "restocking fee" for an item not IN stock is theft. Tell them you plan on filing criminal charges if you don't get you damn money back.
Go with "theft by misapplication of funds" in that said XX Company did Mis-apply $9.45, the property of Ren XXXX towards a restocking fee, KNOWING said item was not in staock and therefore not eligible for the said fee............................*Or

You could file in Small claims, or just grab a 2X4, fling it over your shoulder and march right into their business office and cram!!! Cram!!!! CRAM!!!!!

BTW, What part do they say was missing and they were "awaiting"

I gotta sneez; ah ah ah BuLLLLSHIIT!!!!

What a bunch of jerkoffs. I will have to remember that place, so I will not accidentally give them any business.:jerkit:

Ask to talk to the owner. INSIST on talking to the owner.
Then, calmly, explain that you felt it was wrong to both:
1. Charge your credit card for something that was backordered.
2. Charge you a restocking fee for something that wasn't in stock.

If that doesn't work, call your credit card company and the BBB in what ever town the business is in.

.

Good to know.

"21stcenturytactical.com" is on the "do not patronize" list

I think its total BS to charge a re-stocking fee under the circumstances you describe.

Shoot them an email. Include a link to this thread.

Keith got it in one-I think this is exactly the way to go

I voted for disputing the charges on the credit card. Life is too short to spend any more time talking to these arsebandits.

Thanks for the heads-up about those yahoos. I won't deal with them.

I noticed that you mentioned that you used a debit card. Do you have the same chargeback rights with a debit card that you have with a credit card?

Razz

I voted to absorb the restocking fee because that idea looked to be underrepresented. ;)

Dispute the charge if it is possible, call them four of five times a day until they give in, whatever it takes, but they owe you the $$$ back.

UPDATE:

I have waited over the weekend to see if the refund of the $9.65 was in process. As of this a.m. there was no refund so I contacted the company. I spoke with a very helpful person named Debbie who said she would get that credit taken care of.

When I complained that my Debit/credit card was charged and then the item was backordered she told me that is how credit card companies work when you order online. I think this is B.S. but I am no credit card software expert and maybe they are using storefront software.

anyway its only a ten spot but its the principle...
