What do you buy spares of?

Generally speaking other than power tools, I really don't count duplicates of hand tools as being duplicates per se. They are part of a different tool box assembly of tools.... one for work and one I keep inside the house. The smaller inside the house tool bag often goes with me on trips.
Yep, a tool box in my room, one in the " man cave "( looks more like a storage unit at this point ) a small pouch of tools in my backpack for work, toolbox in the living room, one in the kitchen, tool kits on my bicycles, box full of tools in the garage as well as a pegboard full of tools. And cabinets and shelves full of tools.

Hiking boots that fit like a dream, I have 2 pairs of. Feels like I’m getting a foot massage as I hike.
Certain multi tools, knives and flashlights for sure.
And my gore Tex army parkas are invaluable for the rain here.

What boots are those? I have a couple pairs of hiking boots too.... mostly so I can put on another pair if one gets soaked on my photo forays.
I keep a spare pair of LaCrosse knee high boots. Just about to retire the one pair I have as they are nearly bald from use.

Ammo:)
Good fitting shoes and boots. I wear 15 narrow and its tough to find proper fitting footwear.

I buy duplicates of things I really love and enjoy owning, such as knives, watches, pens, and harmonicas.

Montrail Torre GTX. Still using my original pair I bought 16 years ago. I hike frequently and these are the best I’ve ever had. Still waterproof with vibram soles intact. I bought a backup pair off eBay last year because they’re discontinued and my originals are pretty worn. By far the most comfortable shoe/boot I’ve tried. Every time I put them on, I can’t believe how comfortable they are.

Nothing really. I'm not really scared of something "wearing off" so much that I couldn't get something similar in return. At least if I lose something or if it wears off I can have a good excuse to buy something to replace it. On top of that I don't really like hoarding too much stuff that I potentially won't use ever or in years.

If you hated shopping as much as I do, you might buy multiples—saves time. Why reshop? And if your preferred item is no longer available it takes even more time. (Some of us have weird sizes, for example shoes, that are extremely hard to accommodate.) I’d prefer to do just about anything other than shop.

Donuts, beer, liquor, and packages of bacon.:D

Knives. Multiples of Delica 4 FFG (different colors) and D2 Rat 1s.
Footwear. Like GB940, I wear a 14 wide and sizing at that size is all over the place. When I find something I like, I tend to buy two. Fila footwear really fit me well and they are inexpensive.

I don't often deliberately buy a spare just to put it away in case the original breaks down, but... I used to buy multiple Thinkpad laptops of series that all use the same docks and have many interchangeable parts. Orange-handled Moras in every nook and cranny of the house, shed, garage, and vehicles. Recently a second AAA keychain flashlight that I particularly like as I heard they will be discontinued.

After many years of trimming down in a minimalist mode, I find myself accumulating the North American Arms mini revolvers. Maybe living in Texas now, and having the license to carry that was NEVER possible in the Peoples Republik Of Maryland, has something to do with it. In Maryland, I had mostly range guns for target shooting and plinking. Now I find a smaller more carry able gun to be more useful. I love the way the NAA mini's fit so easy in the side pocket of whatever pants/shorts I'm wearing in the warm to hot Texas weather.

Then my wife, who also has the license and carries, glommed onto my black widow, so a second black widow was needed. Then she saw a pug at a gun show, so a pug joined the family. Then I bought a 4 inch barreled mini master for a trail gun while hiking and fishing.

So now we have a small collation of NAA revolvers, and may need more. The granddaughter Briana loves them, and when she visits the 4 inch mini master is her favorite soda can killer.

Worn out 3 pair, best boots I have ever owned, bar none.
I've had Italian made vasques, and currently wearing a pair of asolos, but none are even close to the level of the montrail Torres.
Then they fixed them, after over 20 years of perfection, the fucked it all up.
Whoever decided to do it should be beaten with a bag of glass.
Still keep the last pair in the closet as a reminder. Had them repaired like 3 times, last trip to Afghanistan killed them.
3 weeks in Afghanistan killed th new and improved ones, sole separated from the shank in the right boot, every step I took it would click in the middle of the ball of my foot, gave me horrible blister. Kind of tuff changing boots when nowhere near fob.

Best boots ever, yes I bought doubles, found a pair on the clearance rack at a dicks once, another at gander.
I miss them.

Good to know someone else feels the same way, take care of them

Jackets..... but not necessarily the same specific jacket.
Carhartt tea pocket shirts..... have literally piles of them. Just noticed that a relatively recent one has a couple little holes in it.... soon will be relegated to paint detail.

I don't really count necessary stuff like socks and underware.
Guns.... not so much. More than one of the same model is a "collection".

Have purchased shoe duplicates when I find something that works. There are not many companies left that still make AAA widths.
But on to knife and tool... Have probably purchased a dozen Leatherman Squirts for keychains, glove boxes, and motorcycles.

And purchased more inexpensive knives than I can even remember, used as gifts. A metric boat load of folders, of Rough Rider, Sarge, and Rite Edge. The majority of them were Barlow's.

In addition, last year around Christmas! I picked up maybe 60+ of some inexpensive imported Santoku's and "Manwhich" knives. Not sure what the proper term is, but they were part bread knife (bread serrations), and part spatula (fat mayo lathering machine, not a Smatchet, but maybe Smatula :D). Buying in bulk, our price ended up being low enough that we could be quite liberal in our gift giving mode.

Picked up a spare Vic Small Tinker the last time at the big knife store. It will just be held in reserve should I loose or somehow ruin the one I carry. Generally speaking, the only knives I buy spares to use are SAKs.

Pants, I look every time I'm in the store because It's hard to find my size in a standard pair with proper pockets plus a watch pocket.
I don't want faded factory torn or skinny jeans and all that plus a hard to find size means I gotta buy pants whenever I can get them.

I have sometimes bought duplicates for various reasons. Back when I was doing a lot of biking I had nearly identical road bikes. During the week I would come home from work and be in a hurry to get on the road, if I picked up the main bike and found a problem such as a flat tire I would just grab the backup bike and go.

In other situations I end up with backup items that may not be identical, or I end up with multiple similar items that I like for instance I have 4 different Spyderco PM2s in my EDC rotation.

The few things I've bought in recent years that I bought specifically to be a backup were Benchmade 913 Strykers, and Oboz shoes. At one time I had 3 of the Strykers because they were not common. I bought a pair of Oboz hiking shoes at REI somewhat by accident then discovered that they were my favorites for daily wear as well as for hard hiking so I recently bought a backup pair.
