What model or number is this Buck? When was it built? What steel is it likely to be? My son had it signed a few years ago, but it's older than the date of signing.

Any clue of its value on the market?

Thanks for the help.

The 901 D- Guard Bowie, from the Buck Custom shop.
Value varies due to condition, sheath, box papers.
I have seen them from $200 and up.
1983 was the first year for the 901
1993 was the last year that they were produced.w/440c steel
They also could be ordered with Damascus blades
and stag or mastadon handles, and wood presentation boxes.
Some other forum members might be able to add more info.

I call it beautiful...
Also, not mine :(
Very neat! I like the signatures!

That is a 901LE scimitar, recentely manufactured....the 901 D-Guard was last made in 1993.I guess Buck used the# 901 designation on new models as they have in the past.Such as the #110 was the original 103....are you confused yet?

eee
when the forums were down i had some free time and answered my own question from that other thread
the 901 in that thread is not the le see how the spacer in the handle is different the le model has multiple spacers and the wooden case the other is a more standard version i guess
i had found a store that had both i will have to check my history and see if i can find it again but it ight take me a while as i am using 3 computers lol

Naw not a bit! you's so clear as a fogy day...
a 103 used to be a 110
a 111 was alummmmian and now it is a LE nickel
a 432 was a 112 but i
if it had a plastic handle it was a 422
but a 442 was a drop point wate not it is a saber clip yes?
a 560 has a 110 blade
and an anvil is a year date
but wate no it is a custom mark right
and a knife with a 100 year medal has not a 2002 balde but a 2003 blade
and a 120 was a extra long 119
and the diffreance between a fronteersman and a nemo was
if it had a leather sheath or a rubber one
but wate there is no more nemo
and a custom is a limted edtition the next year...
i watched my self cralling out as i was cralling in, and jest stoped in to see what condation my condation was in ....watch out for that hole!!!

And a 112 with a 25th Anniv etch is not really celebrating 25 years of the 112 but the 110 IIRC.

I'm glad I quit drugs...

Well this is weird, I left a post to this thread last night and now it is gone?
Lets try this again...
The 104 used to be a Fighter, which is now a 119....or a 120, and a 104 is now a Twinset.
I am not sure why we feel the need to recycle discontinued model numbers but it sure does complicate things.
A customer would call and tell me the blade of their knife is stamped 186 and I could answer that they have a very cool take apart titanium handled 110 with a belt clip. Now it may be an Odyssey.
