I have had these for a bit, and love them. I would like to get a Burt Foster custom made for me, or at least one of his fused steel combat knives.
The Burt F damascus is a real sweet blade, mostly kitchen use so far, and as soon as I can get a scout carry for it, I will take it into the woods. It is such a perfect size, it is beefy and so well balanced and that is what bit me (that's what I get for cheating). Blade so sharp it did not hurt, and I had to check my finger visually, and sure enough a good little skin flapper was there as if cut by a scalpel. The handles are out of this world beautiful.
I just could not pass up a Randall Made, and this set up is amazing to me, and I am sure you all have seen one before, so nothing mind blowing - I just love it. I missed out on one of the used jump knives that had all the features I would have picked, and then I saw this beauty and had to go for it - still want a jump knife. The stag feels like it was formed to fit my hand, and I am sure the angle of the dangle of how the handle is positioned to take advantage of the stag's natural shape and contour is on purpose. Chose to go non-stainless in keeping with tradition, and ease of sharpening, plus I like patinas.
The other Burt F is a gem, I use my other G10 one at work to prep/cut up my salad fixings and chicken breast and to conceal carry when leaving New Orleans later than usual for work. It is always inconspicuously close at hand in my computer bag or inner jacket pocket when walking around outside. All anyone ever says in the break room is, cool knife, even the ladies.
And the Arno Bernard - what is not to love? So light, s35vn on this particular one and warthog tusk from South Africa with a lot of character. The sheaths these come with are well made, useful and made out of water buffalo. This one's sheath is for lateral belt carry which I prefer to most any other method besides a true angled cross draw that is well thought out.
My Busse:Cheater Ratio is so heavily biased towards the HOGS, I don't feel the need to apologize for anything!
In fact, most non-Busse fixed blade knives I own are due to me getting so into Busse, and then wanting to venture out and research some more makers and their wares. I would never have even ventured into other makers if I had not gotten so into Busse and pick up on things here or there. So I am in the camp that Busse elevates the market in general, and it is cool to see threads like this not get booted off. The people who know and love and buy Busse will never stop until dead or temporarily out of money for the next one...
