What Do you Collect Other than Knives?

I am a die hard collector:

Thimbles (gold & silver only)
Sword lapel pins
Vintage magnifying glasses
Thimble shaped shot glasses
Tool chests (Gerstner & Union)
Cribbage boards (metal only)
Coin silver fruit knives
Flashlights
Knives (of course)
Books
Colt 1911's
Paper clips

I'd have to say cell phones. Especially quad-band international units.

I would love to hear more about cell phones. I've only owned crappy units. I didn't realize there were quality options.

Flashlights, Nativities from around the world. Probably have as much value in those as the knives.

Hi All-

Collecting and being a packrat must be in my blood. Selling is rare and I tend to accumulate.
  • Swiss mechanical automatic watches (wide variety...)
  • Knives (primarily Benchmade, Busse, & Microtech)
  • Firearms (handguns are German, shotguns are American)
  • Flashlights (SureFire)
  • Pouches, bags, carriers, and holsters (assorted Maxpedition, Tumi, Waller & Son, Andrews Leather, The Wilderness & CamelBak)

Firearms (mostly WWII USGI)
US Militaria
Knives
Bullets from around the world
And I have a Hot Wheels collection that drives my wife nuts! :D

Knives(anything I like)
Guns(same as knives)
Flashlights(mostly vintage, but hoping to get a Surefire soon)
EDC gear as I attempt to assemble the "perfect" EDC setup
Cars(two vintage Pre-73 rides and counting!)
Books..lots and lots of books.

In my pre-teen years, I collected beer cans. Had a few hundred sweet ones. Pitched them back in '71 when we moved.

Also collected fossils. Had some cool trilobites, nautalus', ferns and other stuff. Pitched those too in '71 when we moved.

Collected shot glasses. Still have a bunch.

Ashtrays, even though I wasn't a smoker. Have a lot of rare ones from local businesses.

In my teens, became a compulsive "collector" of signs, the plastic ones that are cool.

Then, came BC items. Have many boxes of them.

Too, like others, became more accumulation vs collecting, so decided to focus on the BC stuff.

Things that go bang started in my adult life, really more filling niches vs organized or themed collecting.

Knives started a few years ago.

Dust all my life....

Wrist Watches: more inclined to fat diving watches
Books of nautical interests: especially books about ocean liners
Books in general: military history, WW2, hiistory of the native americans
Assorted ethnic / traditional objects: regardless of their nature and use, I have a fascination for traditionally crafted artifacts, primitive tools and woodworks.
Knives: ethnic / traditional / local patterns both folders and fixed blades. Italian regional knives. Any modern design that catches my attention regardless of its purpose (tac or utility).
I have a fetish for pens and sunglasses which (thanks God) has not evolved yet into collecting.
I'm engaged on the noble search for the perfect EDC kit and I risk being submerged by a tidal wave of packs, bags, tools, containers, assorted gadgets.

Other than knives I collect:
  • watches
  • pens
  • flashlights
  • books
  • Native American arts & crafts

Dust. Don't get around too much lately :D

Rocks... mostly crystals or odd stones I find, plus a fossil here and there.

US airmail stamps and plate blocks, not actively... just something I started as a kid and have kept stashed away in a box forever.... think my last addition to it was 25 years ago.

Pens.... don't know how I managed to collect so many of the darn things, but outside of a few Cross pens, a couple of Lammy's (fountian and ball point) and a Mont Blanc roller-ball most of them are junk.

The usual packrat stuff, good boxes, bits of string, wire, cable ties, or anything else that strikes me that it might come in handy some day.

Its cool hearing about all your collections, but it would be alot better seeing them

I just started collecting coins again...............

This will be the fourth time I have started, sold out, started...............................

I also collect late fees and delinquent notices................. :p

Magic: The Gathering and comics

i do that too
good thing is that i get to play with my collection, just like knives
although i must admit it's a bit unsettling to shuffle 10k worth of cardboard, even though it's not going to cut me ;)

Sjamboks ! and Ducati motorcycles. My Wife seems to collect children ( we already have three girls and she is pulling my sleeve again for a fourth), and she tries to sneek other people's children inside as well. Hey, maybe it's because we are a foster parents house? It's always a guess how much kids will be sitting around my table eating my food and sleeping in our bed collection. Only rule, DON'T TOUCH dad's stuff without his permission! The rest of the house is filled with toys, daipers, kids clothes, kids shoes and baby stuff that gets moved around a lot to and from my house. I even have my own NO TRASH car, where kids can sit in, but they can NOT eat, drink, :barf: , play, jump, paint or run around in. We also have a "family" car filled up to the roof with childrens "stuff", crushed food, wrappers, toys, etc. I just wished i had a sound proof, locked room just for myself and MY toys.
