What do you do with your 5

You know at first I wasn't sure what to make of you man. After you have spent a bit here though, I gotta say I think you are going to fit right in. If you haven't made plans to, you need to try to get to Ethan's for one of the gatherings, there is nothing else like them. Glad to have you aboard, and looking forward to seeing your wife talk some smack about the BK2.

Isn't there a meet-up in April? We may be able to make that...and I appreciate it. I think I am nearing my requirements to join the Beckerheads...

She's already at it...

This is a fantastic thread. I saw Jerry's discussion about his design of the 5 blade and he was sharpening some guys' knife. The guy was complaining that the coating was coming off :D.

I will be getting this pretty soon since, well it looks bad ass. Why not try it out?!

Mooze, the weekend of March 30 and the weekend of April 13 is the only two dates it looks like I have open. Both of those weekends have things tied before and after but we can arrange it at this point on either of those dates.
I will have made my 2013 bowie by then and let yall cut with it if you want. The 2012 test bowie was a 11 inch damascus, ivory, engraved gold inlaid piece. So far I have cut 17 2x4's and a bunch of rope without sharpening. I smacked the engraving and gold on the 2x4's as well to test it too. Just like when I worked up the 5, you gotta test everything about it and tweak it till you get it to where I would want to use it in the field.
Let me know on either of those dates as soon as you can.

Excellent, I'll check with E, but I would think April 13 will be better than March. I'll get back with a post about date confirmations, and WOW!!!! 2013 Fisk Bowie, HELL YEAH!!!

Can I keep it?!?!

:D

Noms.

Tonight was a turkey/veggie stew/chili type concoction over baked potatoes. The 5 did all of the work of preparing the fresh veggies - green pepper, red pepper, onion, broccoli, tomatoes, corn, and celery.

I cut a rosters head off with mine. It worked better than the BK9 for that but I didnt take pics so it didnt happen ;)

I didn't think to take pics, but I used mine to cut on some ribs yesterday. It went throught like a tricking laser beam.

My Fiver with micarta has been my dedicated kitchen blade for quite some time now.
I keep a 30 degree edge with a 40 degree micro bevel. It's howling, nasty sharp!
Meat, vegetables, even soft bread will cower when the BK5 is unsheathed...

used mine..err my wife's..to carve up the bird for our feast... it stays in the kitchen in our block..

Ours kept getting mean. I went through 4 of them before I got a calm one and its a bantam :( Randy attacked my nephew and put a 3/4 inch gash right over his eye.

Here is Randys pic

Sounds like Randy had it coming.

I want one that's a little on the mean side but if he gets out of control, he'll end up like Randy. I will look into bantams.
