What do you do with your knives?

OK, I've seen pics of all kinds of collections.

Some few pics of chopping wood and such, and a few of food prep.

Does anyone use their Busses on a regular basis?

Anyone go camping or something and their first choice to bring along being a Busse?

Anyone do leatherwork or something and use say, a BAD or GW to do the cutting?

Anyone just eat with their Busses a lot?

OK, I'll start.

Every since picking up a BAD, I've used one for my EDC. It gets used for everything from cutting boxes open to opening letters to cutting up fruit at lunch. I use it in the kitchen to cut potatoes and other veggies, and I've even whipped it out at restaurants to cut my steak (why can't a steak house have knives with a usable edge?).

When I walk my dog, or I'm farting around in the yard mowing or something, I generally strap my Hellrazor on.

I honestly don't use my Mistress a lot, as I'm so used to my kukri, and it badly outperforms the FBM.

But in general, I can't stand to pay the kind of price that Busses go for and not use the knives.

What do you folks use yours for?

Hunting, camping, fishing and lots of chores around the house. Dont always carry a Busse but I usually have a folder in the pocket.

i mainly use mine when going hiking for clearing brush and chopping logs fallen across the path. at home yard work and splitting wood

Just to clarify, I'm interested in what you use your Busse blades for, not knives in general.

Not sure if my OP was clear or not.

I use them to make sheaths :D

And to make bricks smaller

And to make computers smaller :D

I carry an AD in a Kydex rainwalker sheath on duty as a utility knife. This was actually my first busse. I also use it at the range for various tasks.

When Hiking I carry my SAR4. I love the convex edge..

Use my Mistresses a fair amount when away with the Marines. Everything from building model pits to observation posts to hides and such. Clearing out areas to shelter for the night or day to.

I also use them when i'm out with a friend as we usually end up having a fire and need a lot of wood.

My Ash-1, and other mid sized users I keep for more tactical work when i'm only wearing webbing or a vest. Used them for the same jobs as the Mistress but also for prying and digging holes in doors and such.

Gotta use every Busse I get. Still trying to find a perfect EDC at the moment.

I mainly compare the ones I have by feel initially....looking for ones that I like the best and from these use them for a variety of tasks to work out which is the most effective...then use certain ones as webbing knives...other larger ones as Bergan carry...looking really for what works the best....the hard task is deciding which I want and which I should sell!

I use stuff like the SOD, NMSFNO, Mojo, Mini Mojo, M9LE, Regulator, Zilla, etc.... a lot when I'm BBQing, for prepping wood to burn, and for doing similar tasks when I camp.

I EDC a swamp rat vex in my work bag, because people at liberal arts colleges tend to be skittish about a fixed blade knife on your belt. I would prefer to EDC an INFI blade, but since I've never seen an EDC sized Busse that doesn't waste massive amounts of usable blade on goofy choils, oversized handles, and space-consuming talon holes, the Vex is the only small Busse blade that makes it into my EDC rotation.

For hiking or yard work I usually strap one of the more mid-sized blades to my belt, although I own fewer Busse family knives in these sizes. The Muk, BDLE, Scrapper 5 (see a theme here??) and so on make great utility knives that might be a bit big for EDC but are great all-arounders for "normal" tasks.

I'm with you, can't own 'em and not use 'em. I've been doing a lot with my SHBA in the kitchen, in the yard, and for all sorts of tasks out jeepin'. I EDC a SH-E for archaeology, though that will likely change soon to a SHSH. I keep a Cultie in my kitchen for fine work. There's a skelly key opening mail on my desk.

Sometimes, I confess, I even sit around and try to dream up new ways to use my Busses. :D So far, however, the Dobermans won't let me trim their nails with one.

A Busse goes with me everyday. Usually my Cultie, but Oku has it for Kydex. My Nuc edc will be the one! I also carry my irreplaceable P-mil.

Older pics, but still..............

I used my FBMLE to chop a penny in half once! :foot: Yep, I was bored and just wanted to see what would happen. It was pretty uneventful really. FBMLE - 1 Penny - 0

I use my ASH1 all the time, for tons of things. All sorts of wood chores and food prep, throwing into big old trees, digging waste holes, chopping through rusty old chains, impressing the ladies, as an extra weight when shadowboxing, using the bird's beak to massage knots in my neck and shoulders. you name it...

I took my Skinny ASH-1 on my bicycle tour of the West coast, and it served duty for everything from chopping firewood to slicing bread. It also stayed right next to me while I slept at night, and helped me sleep a little more comfortably. I wouldn't hesitate to set it to any remotely appropriate task, although I find myself short on things that need to be destroyed.

Admittedly, the rest of my Busse collection is used to help hold down a bookshelf in my computer room. It's not that I wouldn't use most of them, but I rarely find the need. I'll have to go seeking out more things to chop.

I edc a GW for work and use it a ton. Everything from lunch work to cutting mule tape, rope, boxes, wood, fluid lines, and other stuff. I also use a fatty GW for popping clasps on switch gear and that kinda thing.

I carry my Smog Warden daily, cut boxes, paper, food, what ever gets in the way. I live in the woods and carry a SAR 4 double cut black micarta for all around use and a Culti neck knife, they make a great couple and take care of everything from food prep to fire wood, i have quite a few others but these are my main users.
