Hope this goes down okay and apologies if some folks think it out of line but we've been getting really excited about a design we've been working on in another forum and was wondering what my friends at the cantina thought of the design !!

The changes I have recommended have been to try and keep a traditional shap with a modern twist and modern steel. I still think HI khuk's are and will be the best but if this goes ahead it should be interesting !!

This probably belongs in the Cantina, but I'm not in charge of such things, so don't mind me. That said, I think it's a beautiful knife and if everything I've heard about Busse knives is true, then it's probably hard-working beast of a knife too.

Looks really neat:) I bet it's a heck of a chopper.

I'm going to scoot this over to the cantina since it isn't totally HI:)

Fullers would be nice and a thick spine. There is just something cool about a thick spine, fullers then thin edge. :) And on my monitor it almost looks like there are fullers. One per side is the way to go. ;)

I agree....that BCK would look better with one fuller each side.

It also needs a real "cho"....instead of the choil it has. unless it's going to be 12 inches or less the choil would probably be useless.

Needs real wood or buffalo horn handle slabs. The standard ugly-A55 busse micarta slabs are the one thing i really hate about them, but that's JMHO......what can i say, i'm a traditionalist.

Other than that.....i like the design. But i probably wouldnt want to pay what that thing is likely to cost.

Fine except for one thing -- the endestmost part of the handle-tang comes to quite a sharp metal ridge,
and maybe that would be better rounded off?

The natural handles are the worst part of these great blades! 3 of my HIs have had their handles crack, break or fall to pieces. I HATE wood and horn. I have more epoxy in one of them than wood!!!

Stick some synthetic material on HI's stuff and it would be OUTFRIGGINSTANDING!!!!!

 Looks to me like the blade is hollow-forged.

Did you send any of them back for handle replacement/replacement?
Did you Talk to Yangdu about the problem?
The Handles are warrantied too.
There are people here that have trunks full of khuk's and use them that have not had that many handles crack or break on them. Might i suggest it's how youre using the khuk and not the fault of the khuk or H.I.

If they use synthetic materials, they won't be making traditional khukuris.
If i want a Kukri copy, made with synthetics, then maybe i'd be buying cold steel khuks.:thumbdn:

I have been following the thread over the last couple of weeks and I have to say I like the concept.

I've experienced some handle cracks and breakage before. It isn't fun at all. But for the most part I've had great success with my Wood and Horn handled khukuris. Mind you, I prefer the natural materials for the handles but I still like seeing Micarta, G10 and leather used from time to time.

Did you Talk to Yangdu about the problem? Yes I have, not worth spending the money shipping them to have more wood put them.

I am not saying they should stop, I just think it would be nice to have the option of different handle materials.

You DO have the option of other handle materials, you just have to custom order it and probably supply the handle material of your choice.

Thanks for the information....I didn't know that was an option!:thumbup:

If you prefer the traditional K then stay with the traditional - Knife design is supposed to evolve for changing times. This is Busse's take on the K - I like it and only wish my budget could handle it.

I agree. I prefer traditional, but this thing would be awesome for those who don't. Much better than certain other brands that I won't mention here.
