Most of us have encountered this problem before. You want to buy a new knife but you have to approve everything with your with your wife, girlfriend, significant other, or in some cases, your parents. So, how do you go about convincing them to let you buy another one even though you already have a one or more?

TTAWR! (Thanks to all who reply!)

Let me buy another? Hmmph! I wear the pants in my house, sir.

I just say, "Love you sweetie." and sneak onto the internet and order it. Then, I casually check the mail each day and pretend like I had the knife the whole time...

in my case it is my parents, and yes it is a fight for that knife, basically it comes down to you getting less knives and working more to convince them that u really want it. For me a knife is the only thing i really want for my birthday or Christmas, or knife related gear, ie sharpening paraphernalia and knife lube. keep convincing and keep telling this person or persons that u really are serious about knives, and remember all the while to tell them your not a serial killer, because really i get that a lot.

this is always the appropriate solution. usually works, too, although I was busted a few weeks ago and it wasn't pretty.

Asking a girlfriend to buy a knife? WTF?!

Someone tell me why a girlfriend would have veto power over your purchases. Do you approve her purchases?!

If it's your money, it's your decision.

My wife digs knives...if it's in our budget, or I put money aside for it. It's cool...see, knives are relatively small (so she THINKS, heh heh heh) and don't cause clutter.

As long as the bills are paid and got food on the table, I'll buy the knife. I just make sure she gets the purses, shoes, and outfit she wants too.:D

Well don't make a big deal out of it. Maybe purchase a little Pearl handled job or a Pink one, something that will fit in her purse. My general approach is: I sell junk! (not knives) on ebay and use the proceeds to buy knives. That way it doesn't come out of the normal funds. Works for me.

Use reverse psychology. I just try to talk about knives/guns/motorcycles, whatever it is to my wife. She doesn't want to hear it and eventually ignores my hobbies and purchases in general.

Exactly. My wife has no idea how many knives or guns I actually own, too many to count and one added one here and there goes unnoticed.

I am not trying to be smart a$$ or tough guy
but I make money in my hose so I spend it without asking anybody .

As long as you're paying your bills and necessaries ; if you have some money aside for buying a knife , there's no need for justification from anyone else what you buy. If you earned that money ,it's up to you how you see fit to spend it. If you need to get approval from someone what to spend your money on , then there's something wrong there. It's your money.

I hand my mom money and she asks "What did you buy this time?" then I tell her what I bought. My mom usually approves of my hobbies.

oh thats easy, i just tell the wife"i pay the cost to be the boss"..if you want me and my pension can leave?...................the mouth shuts up every time considering shes smoking a pack a day of cigarettes. thats 5 dollars a day times thirty days a month.......say whaaaaat.

fried

I stop eating and buying other stuff until I can afford my target knife, so my bank account balance stays about the same. So long as I do that, not really an issue.
