Just watched Cold Steel "More Proof" DVD last night.
Some interesting things were on it.
1. Lynn Thompson needs a diet!
2. Some of the tests were cool, I was impressed by a few of the meat cutting segments, especially Lynn Thompsons Bowie Back Cut on a huge meat.
3. I wonder if they cooked and ate them ribs he cut?
4. Lock stregth in folders??? I seem to remember seeing an axis lock take like 800 lbs before it broke?

5. What do you guys think of the DVD? What do you think of Cold Steel in general? I had a gunsite folder from them a while back, only things I disliked were the zytel handle/lockback location.

Had a voyager as my EDC for years, jsut recnetly replaced it(nothign wrong with it, jsut trying to test out more knives).

I have a couple sets of the Cold Steel "More Proof" DVDs, but no DVD player to watch 'em on.:(. I have, and have watched, the older VHS "Proof" video, and aside from the "hype", it is an "interesting" video.

As far as the knives themselves go, I have quite a few of 'em, and I think that they are excellent "for the money"...(In-fact, I have a PE Voyager X2 on the way from a trade, that should be here tomorrow. :)). I'm not too sure about the 420 steel that they are using with some of their newer knives, but the AUS-8(A) and Carbon V that they have been using for awhile now are pretty darn good steels in my experience.

I love the DVD's! More people should follow their steps by making a video catologe.

Lynn doesn't need a diet! ROFL.

I've got the DVD's but no player. Can't wait to see them. I like the Carbon V knives and the AUS8A but this new stuff.... 420???? Come on Cold Steel, don't bull*#@% us.

I ordered the DVDs about two weeks ago and am still waiting for them. I cant wait to watch them, how long did it take for you guys to get yours?

About 3 weeks and my DVD arrived.

I am thinking about getting a Ti Lite that thing can be waved open from the pocket using one of the couldrons (sp) the little guard thing.

Seems pretty cool.

Now as far a Lynn goes he used A LOT of leverage on some of those cuts way more leverage ;) than my 160 lbs could generate LOL

I have ordered the dvds 2 times now ... And still nothing ! They must not like me or something :(

Lynn Thompson is a pretty good marketer. The videos are fun to watch and make some very good points about what edged weapons can do to human beings. If you watch them with a critical eye and don't take them too seriously, they are pretty entertaining.

You can probably download them from Kazaa. I have the DVDs and they are fun to pop in the DVD player just to have it running in the background. I am reminded constantly by them how deadly knives can be. A caveat that although their knives are still pretty tough, they have diminished the quality of the materials they once used. They now use more 440A or AUS-6. I have their Voyager X2 Clip Point and the Zytel Ti Lite. Both very good knives and scary sharp. The thing is that the edges are ground quite thin hence the razor sharpness. Get a Sharpmaker and be prepared to sharpen if you are hard on your knives. The edges tend to chip and roll if you are not careful using them. Otherwise, excellent prices for excellent products. I particularly like their rattan and white waxwood products. The sjamboks are good, too. Have a better one.

Without waiting 3 weeks to receive it...

If someone would send me the DVD (email for mailing address), I'll send you some newer knife magazines/catalogs for your trouble...

As to CS, I've been using the fixed blade SRK and Recon Scout for years with no problems noted to date...

Mel...If you still have these: Blade magazine(s), April, July, Sept. 2003, and maybe the KnifeForums magazine, that you can send to me, I'll send you the 2 DVD set of "More Proof".

Let me know via email.:).

I called them about 6 months or so ago for the DVD when one of the first DVD threads hit, They said 6 weeks, I moved 3 months later with no DVD showing, called again about 2 months ago, no dvd yet. the hell with it, I don't like their knives anyway :barf: :D

are the dvds free. I glanced at their website and only saw a catalog and ordered that. Where can you order the dvd.

I was watching "More Proof" when the two techs showed up to install my cable modem service. It struck me, then, that the video -- with is endless, plotless, repeated tests and cheesy music, was sort of like "knife porn."

LOL!!!
You hit the nail on the head.
I watched the videos and found them interesting, but not terribly useful. The slab of meat he was slicing looked like it was a cooked corned beef. I think a side of beef might have been better- something with bones and some heft, to imitate a human target.
He can be a showoff and a ham, but it's a very interesting demonstration. They did some good lock tests, hitting the back of the blade. They go a little overboard attacking junkyard cars with warhammers and stuff. :)
I think overall it's worth watching if you own or want to own Cold Steel knives.

This is off-topic (sorry), but I received the Cold Steel X2 Voyager this morning, and eventho I have had a Cold Steel Vaquero Grande for awhile (which is the same size as the X2), this X2 made me go........,when it pulled it out of the box and opened it up...The blade on that monster is HUGE!

And, "Melvin"...Your "More Proof" DVD's are on their way to you!.:).

takes 3 to 6 weeks some might be closer to 6 weeks long wait but the DVD is entertaining. I found myself in my cellar slashing cardboard tagets similar to the ones Lynn Thompson "wacks" in the DVD. I used my various folders and had a great time.

:( I have tried to order the More Proof DVD´s several times, but yet have i received anything!! Not eaven their Special Projects catalog have they sent to me,despite i have requested it several times! It is clearly evident that Cold Steel has become greedy to serve their customers with catalogs and DVD´s! In earlier years they have been more generously and have always mailed me catalogs, but it seems like they don´t do that anymore. I have always considered the Cold Steel catalogs as an entertaining and interesting and from reading them,i have been inspired to buy many Cold Steel knives.

I have seen the first proof video that they made, and that one was informative and good! I like to watch knife companies products been tested to their limits, and i think more knife companies should follow their tracks. Regarding the Cold Steel knives i have,i am completly satisfied with them. They all have come razor sharp, and are truly workhorses.I have Cold Steel blades in AUS-8A stainless steel and in Carbon v steel, but i would never buy their cheaper knives with 420 steel, that they more recently have starting to use.
However,if many people don´t receive any of their catalogs and videos anymore, then it is naturally that they buy knives from another brand instead of Cold Steel.
