Your argument doesn't make sense. Ok, so what you're saying is that Spyderco means something completely different from what they're saying, and if I make fun of their product description I'm not using my brain? So I was supposed to assume that they were making a product claim much more intelligent and reasonable than what they actually said? Fact are facts, and Spyderco did say that the carraca can deter criminals. Yes, that IS what they said. I find that claim a little odd, so I don't see why I can't make fun of it. I don't care what you think they really intended to do by producing this knife; the truth is that they put out a knife with a useless gimmicky feature and made some ridiculous claims about it. And it doesn't matter that this is a "knife from Spyderco," Spyderco is one of my favorite brands. But I do think with my own brain, and I don't assume that Spyderco never puts out duds.
Talk about missing the point...
Congratulations for replying with a lot of gibberish...If there's someone that does not make any sense at all here, it's you.
I will not address what you said as it's truly a garbled mess/rant. I will tell you how the situation really is with the navaja. If you want to
finally understand it, fine...if you don't, well...it's your problem.
Here it goes:
- the Spyderco Navaja is a MODERN interpretation of a historical type of knife. To remain as true as possible to the original navajas
of medieval times, they included a mechanism that recreates the sound (which is called Carraca). In the original knife, the sound was a byproduct of the ratcheting locking mechanism.
In Spyderco's Navaja, the sound is not connected to the locking mechanism as they chose a safer, more modern locking
mechanism. In the original, the sound came to be associated by the average person with a knife being readied for use, therefore it
became some sort of deterrent. Nowaday, it's only there for effect and nothing else, I highly doubt it that anyone will feel fear just
by the sound itself.
- Spyderco's own description is just meant to give a little hindsight into the HISTORY and MYSTIQUE of the Navaja...NOT to tell people that
the sound of their knife makes people cower in fear.
THAT'S IT. NOTHING ELSE.
Now you can chose to accept it or to dispute it with some more gibberish. Your call. I am done with this, because I explained this in the
utmost logical way that I could think of. If it isn't good enough for you, there's nothing I can do with this anymore.
Good luck.
