What do you guys think of this idea?

you must be looking at knives that fit into a PSK Tin or something along those lines....
I am not sure if you'd see a smaller Izula anytime soon or if at all ? we went the other direction with the Izula II

The izula blade size is perfect as it is as a necker.. any smaller, it would not be useful for alot of the task I put through the izula. I would just use my SAK instead.

I completely disagree. 2 inch blades are entirely useful for most slicing tasks, and allow superior precision when it comes to tipwork and skinning. I think it makes perfect sense, and there are plenty of great 2 inchers out there.

Personally, I don't think you could make a knife much smaller than the Izula without greatly reducing its over utility value and ability to use (you could shorten the blade a bit, but not the handle). I don't have very big hands and the Izula is right at the edge of being too small for me and what I like to use.

If any one wants a smaller blade on the Izula, that is something a grinder and can solve in short order.

if you want a really small fixed blade look at JK knives tin knife. its pretty cheap for a custom.

I don't have any need for a knife any smaller than an Izula. It seems to be small enough to pack away, or wear as a neck knife. I just don't see how a smaller knife could be any handier, other than concealing it away in hard to find places.

I was just going to post that.

The small blades do come in handy, however I do not believe the Izula should be altered in a way to make it smaller.

Im hoping for a lower weight, thinner version of the izula with a very thin low profile kydex neck sheath, maybe same blade, 1/2 or so shorter handle. It wouldnt be a heavy duty type knife like the Izula is but it would be a great light weight last resort

Hate to be a naysayer, but I wouldn't buy one smaller than the Izula. Nor a larger Izula (the II for instance, but that's another story). ESEE seemed to nail this niche right in the center with the Izula as far as I'm concerned, and I have not historically be interested in neck knives at all.

If you are looking for very small fixed blades (ie smaller than the Izula), take a look at Bark River Knives as they make a number of models that are pretty darn small but still very functional.

If you go smaller than an Izula, you are talking about a PSK-sized knife, which would be a very cool thing for ESEE to produce. But I think it would be cool to have it as a PSK knife with the option of wearing it around the neck, but not necessarily marketed as a necker or anything.

As far as defensive neckers are concerned, when you get into things smaller than the Izula, you are looking at LaGriffes and those are devastating cutters.

I didn't read everyone else's comments on the tin (PSK) type knives, youbetcha. :D

maybe an izula with g10 handles and a high quality steel. I guess its fine how it is now though

I would buy a smaller than Izula ESEE.

But I'm a sucker for anything ESEE and would personally buy anything

they made. :D

I was doing some knife research today and I came up with an idea. Do you guys think it would be a good idea if ESEE made a neck knife that is even smaller than the Izula but larger than most other neck knives. I think it would be good with a 2 inch blade and a 3 inch non-skeletonized handle. Also, if they used a really nice steel, gave it a black powder coat, and some dark neon blue G10 handle scales, I would buy one in a heartbeat. Now, I just need to come up with a name for it. What do you guys think of my idea. What would you guys change?
.

I agree wit the others that the Izula is a neck knife.

If you think the Izula is too large to be a neck knife you could go with Doug Ritter's RSJ Mk5:

http://www.dougritter.com/rsk_mk5.htm

I don't know why you want a non-skeletonized handle: Most neck knives are skeletonized not just to keep the weight down (I certainly wouldn't want a lot of weight hanging from my neck...) but to keep the handle thin, so that it can go under your shirt when you aren't actively using it. The Minimalist was mentioned earlier, and that is essentially skeletonized but with grips. Another CRKT offering that is available in your preferred blue micarta is the Renner Neckolas:

http://www.crkt.com/Renner-Neckolas-Neck-Knife-Razor-Sharp-Blade

But that's still not a small blade with a large handle, which seems to be what you want. ESEE does make a knife with a small blade and a larger handle; it's the H.E.S.T.

It would be cool to have a little knife made by esse...say 2in blade with 2 3/4 handle with a ranger bead lanyard, the problem tho is that those small knives usually have skeletonised handles to keep them low profile, witch makes it hard to grasp. So my solutions to a non existent is to put thick handles on the small knives (I know it contradic'sthe purpose) but if I could design a small knife it would have specs listed above, with a handle like the blk bush crafter. Sorry I'm piss drunk that got long.

P'S,NO BLUE HANDLES
