What do you guys think of this pack?

Not bad but for $100 there is definately better.

It looks like it might be warm for summer in the vest configuration. If you get it, definitely give us a review.

I think that there is just too much variation in the quality of nylon gear on the market to buy things from unknown makers.

I've had $150 packs that were worth every penny and $20 packs that weren't worth their weight in crap. If you put a pic of them next to eachother online, they would look identical.

It's a neat concept, but I wouldn't buy it until I saw one in person. Just my 2 cents.

It needs more pictures and descriptions.

So it's a backpack that can carry parts of the vest or the vest (with extra pieces) can be worn by itself?

A few mentioned other vests that are better. Which ones?

I like the idea of multiple pockets on the shoulder straps of a pack.

It looks like an interesting idea but I agree that I would want to see one in person before purchase.

Instead of ordering online, go down to your local BSA headquarters and check it out in person. I've looked at a couple of their packs and they weren't all that bad in construction, but other gear, like waist pouches, were garbage.

Probably a good idea. A lot of the BSA stuff that I've bought was pretty decent, but I'll see if the store is carrying it yet. Our shop was being run locally, but national has taken it over and I've heard that it now carrying a much larger line...

Rarely have I found truly top of the line gear, but almost everything is functional. My major complaint is they screenprint a fleur-de-lis on something and raise the price 30-50%. Of course, if you view it as supporting Scouting then it is easier to swallow.

Eyegor - Yep, I agree... I do try to support the Scouts, I'm a Cubmaster, so I am a little biased. But I think scouting is great for boys, I'm glad to be a part of it (I'll even cough up a couple of extra bucks for the fleur-de-li..) That aside, I find the pack intriguing, There is a really neat pic of it on the most recent catalog from ScoutStuff...

From the photos, it looks like it could be sturdy and very functional. Though as was stated before, it may be better to wear it in cooler weather. I've got a cotton travelers vest that feels like a wool blanket after a couple hours on an 80F day.
