What do you have for Y2K?

I'm just curious... of those who prepared for Y2K... what do you have for the potential problem?

Excess water, food, power source, etc.

Of those of you who didn't prepare... What would you face if all the power and telephone services were lost at your home?

Luckily electricity wouldn't be a major issue at this time of the year here! Yes we have the AC on now, but we could get by without it.

We have extra water, food, light sources, and charcoal. We buy most things at least a months supply at a time anyhow, as I get paid ONCE a month!!

The kid has plenty of diapers, formula and now CEREAL! The dogs have a fresh supply of food. The vehicles have plenty of gas...No worries for supplies.

My family came from a farming background that actually THRIVED during the '20's so I guess we learned the hard way how to be ready! It was ABNORMAL if there wasn't enough food in the house for at least SIX months!

I haven't gotten to that point, but one day...

Well we all survived. I never believed in the Y2K theory. Last year I trained 33 of the top execs at Microsoft and the head guy in charge of Y2K stuff told me "don't worry" so I haven't.

Some believe our problems will happen in six months after our oil reserves have ran out. Once again... I don't believe that either. How about it... lets take a poll, how many think that y2k will be a problem in 6 months. Yeah or Neah. Not trying to create a big fight here just an interesting poll.

My vote: Neah.

I do however, believe you should be prepared for a natural or manmade disaster. Training and supplies, etc.

So my vote is: NAY!

I have not thought Y2K would be a major problem. After last nights no-issues I beleive even more highly that it will not be a bad issue. As far as business systems, I have already been out this morning and ALL the sotres and malls are open, I was shocked, but it does prove their systems are working.

Will there be ANY issues? Possibly somewhere along the supply chain. BUT as I have told people all along, GREED runs this country, and NO CEO of ANY company is going to let themselves be hurt too badly by Y2K, it is simply not profit sustaining to allow it. Just my opinion.

As far as preparing, not any more than I would have for a normal winter here in Michigan where major snows can be an issue.
