Here ya go, Gev.

Main blade has a permanent, etched stain... otherwise, it appears it was never used, i.e. factory edges on both blades.

Even better...wow what a gem !!! Thank you :D
Thank you, Gev, the sleeveboard is one of my favorite patterns. The GEC #78 is a good one.

Man o man...to the max !!!!!!

Here's the bone version of your Klaas lockback Gevonovich.:)View attachment 1155385View attachment 1155386
I had to modify it with some filing of the kicks and by also filing in an easy open notch for secondary blades to be able to access nail nicks on all 3 blades. When done I dyed the bone as well to the color shown.

What a wonderooous job on the mod...perfection. A stick of dynamite  Mine is in my pocket :p

Lovely knives in this thread; thanks for starting it, Gev!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
But I think I need a definition/description of the sleeveboard pattern.
My current (mis)conception is that a sleeveboard has straight sides between a wide and a narrow end, and the master blade must pivot on the wide end. So a GEC #26 is a sleeveboard pattern, but a GEC #25 is not.
How close to an accurate understanding am I? Thanks.:thumbsup:

This from our old friend @Pipeman (Robin )

Here are Bernard Levines words on sleeveboards.
Pens. "A sleeveboard pen has round ends"like a senator", but it's handle tapers"." Sleeveboard pen knives ordinarily have the master on the wider end."
Sleeveboard jacks and jumbo jacks." Regular jacks have squared corners at the blade end. Similar tapered knives that are rounded at both ends are usually called sleeveboard jacks.Unlike regular jacks, some sleeveboard jacks have their blades at the wider end." There is more on jumbo jacks but i'm tired of typing :D

Best regards

Hope that answers your question, Gary. Thank you and this is still open for debate :D

Thanks, Gev!:)

The Northwoods Bear Lake was built on the #59 frame, 3 1/2 inches. (I'd love to see a regular production #59, with spear, pen, ebony, nickel silver bolsters/pins/liners)

I think it would do real well too ! Love that one

Thanks for the information and link, Gev. :):thumbsup:
There are more complicated relationships among various knife-related terms than I hoped to find!
E.g., am I correct in concluding that some Barlows are sleeveboard jacks and some are not, depending on the shape (round end or square end) of the bolster? And based on the descriptions from Levine, both GEC #25 and GEC #26 are sleeveboard patterns, even though GEC calls only the 26 by that name.

Anyway, the tapered knives that strike ME as particularly attractive are the ones with main blades at the wide end of the frame. :)
