I had posted a thread a few days ago about what knife I should keep in my get home bag, and I ended up buying the Ontario Combat Knife (SP1) (here: https://ontarioknife.com/fixed-blades/spec-plus-series2013-09-03-16-58-57/sp1-marine-combat-detail)
I know I can't be the only 'prepper' on this forum. So show/tell me what you've got in your get home bag, bug out bag or survival kit!
In my get home bag, in order of compartments, front to back I have: I may be missing out a few things since I don't have the bag with me ATM but this is what I can recall.
Front, square bottom compartment:
LMF Mora Knife with the firesteel in the handle
A bunch of petroleum jelly soaked cotton balls in a ziploc bag
2 waterproof match cases with matches and striker strips
2 regular bic lighters
Front, Top most compartment:
150 lumen headlamp with extra batteries
SAK with small saw
Lip balm (I get chapped lips alot)
Maglite Solitaire LED with extra batteries
Middle Compartment:
Heavy duty rain poncho (similar to military style poncho, not just the plastic cheapo stuff)
Heavy duty work gloves that I took from work when I was a powdercoater
Leatherman rebar
Ontario Combat Knife (7" knife)
Compact waterproof survival handbook and a plastic knot card book (handy to have)
Rear compartment:
Several hand warmers
First aid kit
Winter gloves and hat
extra batteries for flashlights
3 plastic water bottles (i keep this bag in the trunk where it may freeze so plastic works well and it doesnt burst, not worried about cancer risk)
backpackers tarp with grommets (full stuff sack is the size of my fist)
ziploc bag full of paracord bundles to make tarp into quick shelter
bunch of beef jerky sticks (the jack links ones in the vacuum sealing not slim jims :barf
lightweight cook stove with GSI bottle cup (fuel canister nests nicely inside the cup and burner goes on top) this is not to cook food, this is to melt the frozen water bottles. I live where it snows a good portion of the year so if my water bottles freeze, i just cut them open, put the ice chunk in the cup and melt them to get drinking water. Also would be able to melt snow for this purpose or to boil questionable water that I may come across
Tell me what you think. Tell me what you carry in your get home bag! feel free to recommend anything you feel i may need, i may be missing the obvious here.
Looking forward to all of your replies.
