Morning all

Spending hours alone in my shop, I nearly always have wireless earbuds in listening to music and podcasts. I thought it might be fun to share what we are listening to, as it is always good to get recommendations on new podcasts to listen to.

***Warning***
I am British, and have a warped sense of humour, so much of my list may be unsuitable for 99% of peoples ears :D

Podcasts I'm listening to

Chatabix - 2 British comedians (Joe Wilkinson and David Earl) just chatting about what is going on in their lives
Gossipmongers - Same 2 comedians above, but reading out hilarious, often filthy pieces of gossip they have been sent in
Uncanny - Danny Robins investigates paranormal stories
No such thing as a fish - Discussions about interesting things that they have found out about each week
Lead singer syndrome - Interviews with lead singers from bands

Music I'm listening to

Exister - Hot Water Music
Anthems - Pure Love
White Crosses - Against Me!
Megafauna - An so I watched you from afar
Era Vulgaris - Queens of the Stone Age

Since it technically comes under, "Knifemaking Methods", I'll leave it here for now. That way people can see it and comment. When it tapers off, I'll move it.

I listen to Jackson Browne, Andrea Bocelli, The Piano Guys, opera, and symphonies.

If I'm doing handwork, I usually have Netflix on, or have a Bluetooth speaker listening to a podcast (Knife Perspective or The Crafted Edge), Conway Twitty, Don Williams or Ray Charles. If grinding or doing noisy stuff I have Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones that I listen to the above things with.

My TV is always on, the channel varies. Either 60's rock, MVTV (cars), hunting or cooking. Obviously, I don't hear what's on when machines are running but the shop is wired so the TV and cable box turn on and off with the lights.

I usually listen to K Love radio station, but sometimes I link up my radio to my phone and listen to some heavier music like symphonic metal (Amaranthe, Metalife, Halestorm, etc), so it can be a weird mix sometimes!

I have about 3500 albums on a hard drive attached to my computer and listen via Bluetooth to a set of powered speakers in the shop. I control it remotely with an iPad. I have horrible tinnitus so have music playing from the time I get up in the morning. I like a broad spectrum from classic rock to classical. Mostly, though, nowadays, I don't want to hear anyone singing; it's 95+% instrumental music. I play a great deal of ambient music, also, to just make background noise and cover this infernal cacaphony in my ears. Love music more'n anything but my wife and dogs. :)

Sometimes I just like peace and quiet. But as mentioned that's hard to do with Tinnitus. I don't have it as bad as some and I'm thankful. I have a really a really wide collection of music I listen to. It really depends on the mood. For some odd reason I can't listen to POD casts or books like most and keep my train of thought. One track mind I guess.

only music in my shop mostly older hop hip, newer rap, and Tool. 90s grunge.

It's strange-as I'm a musician, but I never listen to music when I'm working or trying to go to sleep. I start playing in my head and it distracts me.

I hardly listen to music, unless I'm learning new material.

Since I had back surgery Monday, I'm taking Percocet, and listening to the colors!

So often I'm listening to my thoughts, or carry on a conversation with myself which sometimes leads to a disagreement.. sometimes that disagreement leads to me turning on some music.
you too, eh?

But seeing as I'm in charge of a metal shop, too often I'm having to listen to someone else :(....

I too have tinnitus. That comes from 15 years touring in very loud bands, and now not made any better by running noisy equipment. Seems to be reoccurring amongst makers.

I'm surprised at the TVs in workshops. Doesn't the dust mess them up?

i listen to podcasts mostly with my noise cancelling bose earbuds! I HIGHLY recommend them...drowns out all my machine noise and don't have to blast it to be heard! Only bad thing is my daughter and wife trying to get my attention in the shop as i'm EXTREMELY jumpy and they usually scare the shit outta me!!haha Joe Rogan Podcast (depending on who is on), Shawn Ryan, and lots of true crime podcasts. When i listen to music it's usually old country, 80's hair band/rock, or Luke Combs radio if i'm wanting something a little newer!ha Since it's basketball season, i need to get a TV out there!
