Hi All,

I'm wondering what would be good to lube my Buck folders with? Just FYI, they probably will be used to cut some food every now and then.

Thanks

My 334 Trapper gets Frog Lube but I think it is only slightly better than mineral oil. DM

Maybe CLP (Break Free) may give the better lubricity. Mostly because of the blast from an aerosol can. DM

Redhat, Bear is meaning he's either hunting apples or frogs. He can be a bit dry at times. Tongue in cheek perhaps. Don't take him serious at times. You'll know it when he gives you some Real information. He is very knowledgeable about cutlery and fun to have around. DM

I know he's knowledgeable, I've read more than a few of his posts. I didn't take his post any particular way. BTW, I just tried the mineral oil on my new 112...works like a charm so thanks 2tonyb and buckshack!

As a side note, I just noticed this forum apparently doesn't have private messaging...I was going to drop you one.

I have private messaging. Bear doesn't. Most Gold members opt out of it. Click on their name and it will take you to their profile which allows you to leave one. DM

I checked your profile but the only option I see is "Visitor Messages"? Maybe I can't use it.

I have an 8 oz plastic bottle of Williamsville Butcherblock Oil. My hardware store recommended it for the black walnut handles on a knife I was reconditioning. It says its a safe mineral oil to protect wood in contact with water and food, and that it's non-hazardous, odorless and tasteless. That's when the light bulb went off and I realized I better stop using Rem Oil (or others) on knives I use for food processing.

I believe you have to be gold to send or receive private messages. Non-paid members don't get that privilege, unless I'm mistaken.
