What do you primarily use your knives for?

My work knives are used to cut many things. Construction and landscaping. The list would be long.
My after work knives rarely do more than open packages.
I use my cutlery knives for prepping food.

Used them at work at construction site, used them for food, to chop bushes and brushes on my yard and other such work, also for some things in my garage, even cut car tires with them... opening packages, cutting lose strings, fixing my car once and fixing my jeans...

I have quite a large knife collection; I have one beater folder that I use for most everything, and all the rest I have just to look over.

Yeah this pretty much describes me too, except the "beater folder" doesn't see much use either...mostly opening boxes/packages, and getting the peel started on an orange here and there.

Well I can understand that if you live in the city.

My knives always see use, and I only have 3.

I use Recon Tanto the most.
Drop Forged Hunter is second in order and is my favourite EDC.
Boker GoBag has been gifted to my GF (she took it on her own lol).
And Warcraft Tanto is... well replacement (back-up) for Recon Tanto if I ever break it.

Some get modded like the Prolite and my True Flight Thrower. I think the Bird and Trout is a fabulous utility knife around the house. It is my #1 choice for breaking down cardboard. I use my Peace makers to practice fire making skills, like making feather sticks and fire steel practice. I will probably make dinner with my PMII soon.

Please post in the action shots thread, thanks!

Actually, I live in a very rural area and just recently sold about 400 wooded acres. If I have any serious cutting to do, I use an axe or a chainsaw. But I always carry some sort of knife with me, I just don't use them much. But I do like them.

I don't have a chainsaw and an axe is an overkill for bushes, plus it breaks more than it cuts, knife is also a better tool for making sticks pointy/sharp so you can use them in your garden. And knife is also a better tool if you have to cut an old car tire for example.

I purchase them for many things (like back up for firearm) but they usually only see action when my wife asks me if I have a knife on me (which I always do) when she needs to have a package opened.

Mostly threatening and intimidating the crap under my fingernails.
When not doing that, everything else I need a knife for ... and some things for a which a knife might not be the best tool but happens to be the only thing I have.
