What do you recommend for removing spots from D/C blades?

You might try Portrait Professional software for spot removal. It worked well in this case:

Photoshop is probably just as good though.

Here is some of the best stuff you are going to find to get rid of those spots on your DC blade, no question about it. I swear by this for cleaning up my blades ....

jaxx, are they rust spots or do they look like water spots? is the knife mint or used?

I don't know... It's a pre-owned sterile triple ground 6+ inch SHV variant with a slight recurve that I got from this REALLY cool HOG awhile back... :foot: Came in a Rowe's leather sheath... Has "SHV" written on the back of the sheath?? ;) LOOKS unused, and I've not used it...Yet. :D;) Who was it who sold me this incredible blade...? ;):D Definitely NOT rust, they look like dark gray spots, considerably darker than the D/C finish.

...After I went offline last night, I tried lightly using a pencil eraser but it doesn't seem to work. Then I tried rubbing my thumb across one with considerable pressure... and believe it or not this worked! I was able to remove about 90% or more of each of them by just using fingers with a good amount of pressure/friction and then wiping the blade clean with WD-40. I tried soap & water, and then WD-40 and a soft rag before posting this thread, but no joy either way.

I think that the sheath, because I keep it in the sheath most of the time, might have caused them, but I don't know how and why do these spots only appear in certain areas? ...So maybe not? these are small spots... 1/4 inch each or smaller and look like water drops. However no water has come into contact with the knife before last night since it's been in my collection...

Anyway, THANKS all for your tips & product mentions, you guys, cause I'm sure that all this good info will still come in handy for many more than just me...

Now that you say that... :foot: LOL :D

But, you've got me thinkin'... Would rubbing alcohol work to remove these types of spots? Has anyone tried this?

I'm wondering if the oils from your finger darkened up the rest of the blade to match the spots.

Not sure about rubbing alcohol... but I wonder if Tarnex would work... I know it's for silver but...

I have used Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber and there Cleaner-Degreaser on some tough spots with great success. You MUST reapply a protectant though as they will remove all oil or wax's.

Never tried Windex, but have heard it works pretty good???

The Alchohol may work great as well, and if from Skunk there goona need sanitizing anyway:D

No, it didn't as far as my eyes can tell. Color is still consistant with the rest of the blade. :)
