Gollnick made an excellent point. If the knife is going to unlock like a hinge, it is better to mention it in a nice way. A little criticism is a lot easier to overcome than severe damage to the fingers. One of the mechanics at work showed me his knife a couple of months ago and it would close up on you in a heartbeat! I showed him that with a very easy tap on a spine whack. I told him about the CRKT line and told him he could buy a reliable lock for not too much cash. I brought my large M-16 in , along with a favorable article, which I made a copy of for him. I showed him the MSRP, and then the receipt for it when I bought it for much less. I sold it to him, taking about a $10 loss, and told him when it got pocket worn, I would show him how to clean and sharpen it. He brought it in to me about a month later and I showed him how to thouroghly clean it, and how to bring the edge back. He now knows how to test the quality of a knife, how to maintain a knife, and is well on the way to becoming a collector of production pieces. Best of all, we became friends. He would ask me every monday what stuff I'd seen at the gun/knife show that weekend. Every instance will not work like that, but it is better to be gently honest and then go the extra mile to show that you were not just crapping on his parade. People will always respond when you sincerely go out of your way to help.
