What do you sharpen your RAT with?

Get yourself a good, thick tooling side from Tandy, slice it into 3" wide x 14" long strips and glue them to the same sized MDF backer (3/4" thick) with some Weldwood contact cement. The ultimate strops. ;)

I have been using a Spyderco SharpMaker for a few years now, great system. But have recently discovered convex sharpening with sandpaper and a mousepad, and I have to say I love that system. It's cheap and easy to learn and does an excellent job fast!

If the knife edge is fine and I just want to give it a quick touch up then all I do is strop. I only really use the DMT aligner to fix a damaged edge or reprofile.

What paste's are you guys packing into your strops?
I was thinking of getting just the black and green from KSF and making my own paint stick leather strop

I don't know I was hoping someone here would recommend one:D

Use the Stroping Magical Snail !

I use DMT products too. I follow with a very very hard stone and finish with a dry strop when I have the time.

KME Similar to the Lansky or more exact due to the little ball with the hole in it that you put the rod in.

thanks everyone! this might take a little pratice frist ones I'll try is my BK2,if & when I get the hang of it then Izula.

Benchstones from Spyderco, medium and fine.
And a very coarse diamond plate for damage control.

6 dollar Smith Arkansas hard stone, some wet and dry 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper. Mirror finish hair slicing edge in about 2 minutes after regular bushcrafting abuse.

I like the belt idea...I have a few of those laying around that don't quite fit any more.....

:)

I havent sharpened my Izula yet. But I will be using my Spyderco Sharpmaker.
I am also thinking about getting a stone for back beveling/reprofiling.
