What do you store your knives in??

My big knives live in a safe (they have their own and don't have to share with the guns) while the small ones go in a locking Craftsman tool chest. Oh and yes, I store them IN THEIR SHEATHS and they do absolutely fine, including the L6 blades sitting in leather. Eezox is wonderful stuff. ;)

I have a closet with all the fun stuff (knives and all the gear). Knives that fit stay in a plastic suitcase (under 8'' blades), bigger ones stay out in separate boxes, multitools and small folders stay in a transparent plastic box. I only store knives in their sheaths if those are kydex or other plastic sheats (my brkt golok stays out of its leather sheat for example). It is fine for me.

I store them in their boxes inside of large tackle boxes and briefcases. They are available to grab in case of a need to leave. Sharpening gear and oil/cloths are with them. Large fixed blades get a suitcase.

Everything has to have a handle and be carryable.

My biggest worry is a notice that the dam above my valley is failing and I have to leave quickly. It almost happened in hurricane Fran some years back. A day later when I inspected the dam I was shocked at how high it was, close to overtopping it. It's an earthen dam too, so that would not be good. The lake expanded so much during the storm that a bridge across a narrow part was submerged under 10 to 15 feet of water, not even visable. Right then and there I decided to make things that were valuable to me as portable as possible, ready to grab and go.

These for flashlights and knives:

My wife collects little boxes. We've watched all of our favorite 'collectible' goodie stores go broke - and sell their display cabinets. I've bought her several over the years. As she would outgrow them, all vertical glass cases with locking glass doors and lighted, I inherited them - supposedly to display my models. Oops... the knives look better on those glass shelves. I can quickly see what's missing, too - often in time to retrieve them from a pants pocket before it finds it's way into the washing machine.

I worked in our favorite store for a few days as they closed last year - a sad time. My wife did get three full height cases actually branded for her boxes, etc, so last year saw me getting her two half height glass cases, one with a lockable storage base. Fortunately, they all use the same key - and both of my copies were hiding - right where I left them - last week, making me carry a Boker Tree Brand Classic Copperhead all week. One case has my fixed blades, the other, my folders. Many are on clear plastic stands (Buck). The sheaths, boxes, etc, are elsewhere.

Security is secondary here - although I do have a few Benchmades, I have no Sebenzas. Mine are users all, so their pristine condition isn't a given. One could smash the glass and make off with a bunch of inexpensive folders - or fixed blades - without sheaths. I could follow the blood trail, too. At least they can't be picked up by a top mounted handle and toted away full. I had some PRC made wooden chests, like the lower end imported Gerstners, which my wife inherited as those little drawer slots were ideal for small slippies - which I don't have. She keeps them for jewelry!

I do have both a tall and a short digital lock 'safe'. The tall one has plywood strengthened shelves and, certainly neither gas tight or fireproof, is my 'metal container' for my ammo stash. My couple of .22 bolt action rifles are 'elsewhere'; my revolvers are in the short safe. I have no room or need for a big safe for firearms and knives.

I did inherit a corner display cabinet, actually, a corner English antique bar - bought for a song at an auction due to it's 220V lighting. I gutted the lighting, replacing it with several under counter LED can lights - from WallyWorld! The sliding glass - and lower section wood - doors offer no security from the grandkids, so it contains my displaced models, gizmos, etc.

BTW, all three of my wife's current cases, the big one she gave away, the two I inherited ($50 & $75!), and the antique English corner bar and new lights and bulbs (Not cheap!) - all totalled less than $500! Check out those collectible/trinket/gift stores. The new price for such cases ranges from $800-$1,400+ - used, as they can't display other-named goodies in them, they'll go for $35-$300. Another approach to storage...

Besides in my pockets, my chair's end table in living room, my office work station and my bug-out bags (large/small), I use a 12 folder Sack-Up, 18 to 20 folder (?) PVK padded storage bag, and a no-name 18 folder case that uses elastic loops to hold the knifes inside. It sucks though and will be replaced soon by one of the 1st two.

I put the folder holders in a small 16 quart Sterilite (like a tupper ware box) that's got clear sides. I use a 2nd one (16 quart Sterilite box) for my sheath knives, and a 3rd one for my empty boxes. They all stack up very nicely.

My related lubes, tools etc. are on the work bench and in a craftsmen multi-drawer toolbox in the basement.

I keep my knife storage containers stacked right beside my gun safe and ammo crates, all in my office. It works for me. :D

Check out the Gerstner International Chests. The GI 530 Red Oak Chest is great for knife storage and will last for generations. ($289)

That same box at Harbor Freight for 1/3 price-may not be same quality but will last 1 generation for sure.

I use a 25 count humidor since I dont smoke anymore- Holds 15-20 buck 110 size knives depending how close you want em.

A jewelry saleswoman turned me on to this place called gemsondisplay.com and they have stackable glass top displays that look pretty darn usable for knives and they are cheap.

I use half a dozen of these inexpensive 18" x 12" x 2-1/2" stackable cases from SMKW:

I keep my "legal" knives in a PVK bag:

All my switchblades are stored in a drawer:

I usually store my knives in the cabinet with two shelves under my gun case. My swords, staffs, spear, and martial arts weapons are either hung up or leaning against a wall...

I keep most of mine in the boxes they came in in small to small/medium boxes.

I store the boxes in different places in the house...if the house is ever

broken into I dont want to have them all in one place.

I read a couple threads on the Spyderco Forum about people who had all

their knives together and lost them all when someone broke in.

Also... our (wife n I... one each) large fixed blades are sheathed between the matress.

I highly recommend this. Its only $25 and will store up to 60 knives.

That looks like something I need to try. I currently have my arsenal in cardboard boxes, which is not optimal. I bought a nice, spendy Otterbox case, but decided that the spongy liner material might retain moisture and promote rust. This looks like a good solution for me. I like the Sears toolbox idea too, but those things are somewhat spendy.

I typically like to store some of my nicer knives in a Bill's Custom Case, especially my fixed blades. Some of my collector knives are still in their boxes, stacked in a Pelican case. All of this inside of a safe.

The users just kinda lay around.

I keep my knives in a rifle storage box. I have about 50 folders in there with room to spare. It lock so the kids can't play with them and it's thin enough to slide under the bed. EDC rotation knives I keep on the dresser.
