what do you thin the blade is made of?

For a $4 knife it certanly isn't anything better then 440c, but I really doubt it even being that.

I would say that at a budget ruining price of $3.65 it would have to be made from the finest materials by skilled artisans. Being "combat ready" would certainly indicate a high quality of construction too.

It appears to be an excellent choice for covert de-animation activities, and is quite possibly undetectable by IR.

The only way to find out for sure would be to find a sharkogator and try to cut it to the bone. If it holds up, it's a good knife.

but i dunno if the metal is cheap ****

For that price, I think your question answers itself.

Probably would impress a bunch of 14-year-olds, so if that's what you're after, go for it. Hell, it's only 4 bucks, right? :barf: :D

At that price: pot steel.

Pot steel is scraps and bits of all sorts of alloys that are melted together in a big pot... hence the name. Essentially, it's a pre-consumer recycled material.

When you don't need the specific characteristics of any one particular alloy, pot steel is a good and economic choice. A lot of the parts in products around us are made of pot steel and it's just fine. But a knife blade needs some specific characteristics and so pot steel is not a good choice.

Oh yeah, this one is actually 154cm...
Yes, but in this case, "CM" stands for "Crap Metal."
Good luck with that one Omega.

I thought this would actually be a fun challenge. I was able to track it down far enough to know they use a 440-series, but not far enough to prove what I was guessing, which was 440-A.

400, or 420, if your lucky. Its probably some really cheap steel with poor heart treat, if any at all.

Someone purchase one of these and send it to Cliff for testing. :)

Wade ya beat me to the suggestion, oh well, maybe someone will donate one for a destructive passaround.

Are you sure that it´s not a toy knife....

For kids to play.........with sharks and gators,...............you know

Either hardened cheese rinds, or a bunch of lead fishing sinkers dumped into a mold and pounded into the general shape of a knife blade. Either of those qualifies as "stainless", so that's probably what it is.

WOW! You should see some of the other fine products at realistic prices these guys have.

Check out THIS one now, you won't be disappointed.
