What do you think about Ivan Campos ?

I was fortunate enough to win his Christmas giveaway: a Model 150 Standard Tanto in K-100 tool steel. Do a search under Reviews and you should find my report. Ivan does beautiful work: the grind is perfect, not a flaw anywhere; the handle wrap is as functional as it is beautiful. K-100 is the equivalent of D-3, very difficult to grind but outstanding in edge holding. You could shave with this knive (at a 35 degree chisel angle) or chop through a 2 x 4... or vice versa. Ivan was quick to answer my many questions and the Christmas surprise arrived exactly as promised. You won't be sorry dealing with Ivan, IMHO.

I JUST missed meeting him at the Blade show in 1999, but we have emailed back and forth some time ago when he was getting into cord wrap handles and seemed like a very passionate fellow in regards to knives and I would say has a high standard when it comes to making them, he wants only the best. So you shouldn't have any problems with Ivan.

A couple years back, Ivan traded two Spydie folders (the infamous, or forgotten, 666 model lum chinese and...one I don't rem) for an Esse he was working on at the time. #5, it is. He even let me choose the type of handle materials that I wanted. It was a great experience! He was great with everything, including the shipping, and explaining to my addled brain the best ways to ship stuff to him.

It is seriously the sweetest knife I have. Honestly, it's too nice for fella like me, so it stays safe and sound away from the grind o' life.

Very, very well made knife, IMHO, limited as that opinion maybe. Again, he is a great guy to deal with.

First class all the way - both in personality and work.

I have been luck to get to know Ivan and have handled quite a bit of his work.
Great guy, great prices and great dedication to his work and knifemaking and makers in general. Tough to beat that combination.

Always good to see a Three Year Old thread surface and the guy is still a Good guy ;)

I have done a bit of trading and corresponding with Ivan. So much so that I like to refer to him as my Brazilian Cousin !! If there were more people out there with the personal character, honesty, and ethic of Ivan Campos, much of what passes as "Bad and Ugly.." in this forum wouldn't happen.

One day I am going to personally meet him, buy him lots of beer, and talk a lot about Japanese blades and swords

I like Ivan and I like his knives. I would trust him without question. I have purchased a knife from him in the past and things went great.

Ivan worked out a deal to get some nice work from a Senior Bide up to me. He is a good guy as far as I am concerned. It has to have been a couple of years at least and I am still beating that knife up on a regular basis.
