What do you think about this belt sander?

'Cause it's almost exactly like the one I've been using since I started a few years back!

Hopefully, yours will have a better platen, and you might want to add a work-rest for the contact wheel, but it will certainly take off material, just like a belt sander should. It's also handy for removing:

1. Peel from potatoes,
2. Rust from anything,
3. Money from your pocket,
4. And let's not forget MY personal favorite...skin from your knuckles!!

No. The motor is in the way and the platen is too far away.

You mount it vertically somehow.

I like the basic design OK, but would like to see it elevated above the table a bit more. But then I work on a flat horizontal platen all the time with the belt running away from me. Working on a vertical belt would be very peculiar to me.
 
I dunno know about the sander....but that is a handsome fella' in the background (hee hee) :p
