I guess it depends on the blade and the over all style you're going for. Polished/refined knife, no.

I believe it's easier to use darker colours or ones with more contrast. I find this quiet muted colour to be too soft and quiet for that particular blade. However, it's always good to go with what you feel is good. Frank

My unanodized Ti knives scratch very easily. My anodized Titanium knives are very scratch resistant. I don't care much what the color or pattern is, I just want the cratch resistance.

Well that is something I haven't noticed and wonder what I'm missing? I do quite a bit of anodizing - well the parts are small and maybe not really a lot of knives - but I haven't found the anodizing gives scratch resistance the way I do it which is with the electrical way. Are you doing yours by heat? Thanks Frank.

Yes, Im doing mine by heat. I found that heat anodizing is way much more scratch resistance than the electrical one.

I heat it to 900c and hold for 30 min. This will give a nice grayish color which hard to scratch even with a sandpaper:thumbup:

I like it! rugged, 'end of the world' kinda look, i think it looks great man

Well, the same colour or not and with the blade coloured as it is, that is a fine piece of work for sure !!! Just shows too that other people's opinions, like mine, aren't always good. Frank

I do admit, that look does look good on the knife. Funny how pieces/ parts look differently when put together. Nice work and nice eye

Looks really cool. Maybe you could increase the contrast between the countersinks/chamferred edges and flat handle surface to show off the pattern a bit more? Great job.

Are you using 6AL4V? Some alloys can be hardened, which is probably what is giving you the scratch resistance. Others that know more about ti alloys can clarify, but I'm not seeing a durability difference between heat or electricity applied anodizing on Commercially Pure (not hardenable) titanium.
