What do you think about your Spyderco Ladybug 3?

I love ladybugs. If you throw a little Chris Reeve style lanyard on the end you can get a good four fingered grip. Very sturdy for their size.

there is a after factory pocket clip that i can mod and use on the ladybug 3?

I have the Ladybug 3 with SS handle. Excellent knife for its size. It looks like a gent's folder until you open it and the fully serrated edge bares its teeth. But it's so small, it's not intimidating to non-knife folk. It locks up very tight, much tighter than the similar-sized Byrd Finch with FRN handle.

I opted for the fully serrated edge to maximize cutting area. It will handle any cutting job I have in the office. Don't have too many 2" manila ropes hanging about.

I would expect the SS handle to scratch up if carried in a pocket, but I would also expect you could easily restore the surface with some emery paper. I keep mine in my desk drawer in the office and it doesn't get scratched up.

Hi Lio,

The Current Lady bug is lot of cutting horsepower per inch, per ounce, or per dollar. It's strong, tough, light and uses a very sharp piece of VG-10. I usually have one with me, loose, not on a key-ring.

The Orange version was made as a "Sprint" but on the more recent colors, we have opted to keep them in the line as regular colors. Customers have asked that we have more color variations in Ladybugs as "regular" models.

The purple and foliage green are the first two variations that will be kept in the line. The yellow H1 variations will be kept in the line. On other colors, we'll "hide 'n watch". We work for you so it really depends on what the ELU's want.

Thanks sal. I really thought that Orange Ladybug looked sweet and was rather practical as such small a knife is more likely to get dropped or lost, and the orange really helps it stand out so someone could find it.

I so agree with your comments, Sal. I just bought an orange 'bug to supplement my black one. One request: please keep making PE models! (BTW, if you are able to comment in public, I'm curious: which sells best, SE, combo or PE?)

I love the Ladybug's, and am itching for the H1 variant. The ultimate accessory for them is Micro Rig from Eric at www.onscenetactical.com (products page, all the way at the bottom) This is the best way to carry them on a key chain or clipped to what ever you want. I ran one as a zipper pull on my winter coat for a while.

I don't have a new Ladybug; mine is an older one (probably AUS-6 steel) with a red handle bought about a decade ago. It was on my keyring but now is attached to a Photon II light and safety whistle. It isn't always used but is always there. The red handle is scuffed, the handle edges are all smoothed out, and seems a bit darker now than when new. It's been on me everywhere I can legally carry a knife, for a little backup blade.

The only reason I haven't gotten one of the new Ladybugs is because I've become kinda attached to this one. Though a H1 or VG-10 version sounds awesome.
